Random Spottings in Manhattan (due to rain, I don't have pictures, but will take them tomorrow before Sweeney's closing perf.)
1. The GREY GARDENS marquee is phenominal. It encompasses the whole Walter Kerr sign with the excellent logo. You can see it all the way from 6th Avenue.
2. The BUTLEY marquee is garbage. It's the same (horrible) charicature logo of Nathan Lane, with the title. It's very forgettable.
3. Wedding Singer has gotten rid of all things Laura (from inside the theater at least). The full cast was ON today (with TINA MADDIGAN prominantly listed next to STEPHEN LYNCH in the Playbill.) Laura's name was taken off the cast list board, but her picture is still featured around the theater.
4. Lucie Arnaz was out of today's Dirty Rotten matinee.

Yikes...I hope Lucie is back tomorrow afternoon!
Took them a while to change the playbills.
I really hope Lucie gets to do the closing show tomorrow.
anyone have pictures of the marquees?

I'll have them up late tomorrow when I get back from Sweeney. They're worth a 24 hour wait. Trust me.
It's all about the Tina.

Can't wait Yankee. Take some pics of Sweeney closing night too.
So happy that Tina is finally getting the recognition she deserves.
With Laura's illness causing her to take an extended absence...I'm not surprised they bumped Tina up in the playbill rather than printing out those paper slips.
I've seen this done with a lot of standby's taking over a role for a period as long as this.
But, from what I hear, Laura's doing better and should return to TWS within 3 weeks.

I loved Tina in the role. She was fantastic.

On Wednesday, I walked past the Booth in the morning and the Faith Healer marquee was up and by the time I walked back, the new Butley marquee was up. They were also putting up new signs around the Jacobs theatre for Fame Becomes Me.

ahhh! im dying to see the GREY GARDENS marquee! this is killing me! glad to hear its really cool
:)
The Butley art work has been available for some time. Just go to this web site
http://broadway.yahoo.com/shows/show.php?s=btly
Find the Butley reference, and pull up the page for the show offer. You'll see the caricature. It is not the same one used for Odd Couple. Yes, it is a caricature but not the same one. I don't happen to like it but then I've never felt that the marquee made much of a difference to people when they were deciding to buy or NOT to buy tickets.
I really hope Lucie is in tomorrow too!
One problem with the otherwise lovely Grey Gardens marquee is that the title treatment is rather difficult to read. While you can see the picture of Christine from a great distance, you have to be pretty close to the theatre to read the title of the show.

Yes, Smaxie. I agree. I stood 5 yards away from it and couldn't read the title. But the picture itself is striking from a great distance.
I'm sure Lucie will go on tomorrow...pretty much no matter what. She was in on both Thursday and Friday (I was there...yay!) and she seemed rather determined to stick with the show til the end. I'm sure that doing two shows in one day would be too much for her knee. At the stage door, she said that after the show her knee is swollen, but that she's okay with that, if it is because she was doing the show. Does anyone know if she went on for the evening performance?

I figured they would have don eit a bit sooner though, as Tina's been on for quite a while.
I'm glad to hear Laura is getting better!

Maybe they're thinking that people will recognize the somewhat famous photo? I dunno, it sounds classy, I can't wait to see it. Wish they would have put the new picture on the cast recording.
Yankee - were you at the matinee today? Got last minute tickets at TKTS in row F (obstructed) but moved at intermission.
As always, Yankeefan007, I know you will share good things with us Can't wait!

The theater in your avatar is the old Loews Mayfair later to become the De Mille & than Embassy 2/3/4
While the De Mille, it played many of the big screens epics of the 60's. It once was a georgeous theater with a huge mezzanine lounge. It is surprising it was not demolished long ago as the property it sits on has to be worth a ton
