Happy to see that Public Threepenny Opera is going to be available.
MAME was added to Arkivmusic's listings last year when they acquired the rights to all the Jerry Herman scores. At that time MILK & HONEY was out-of-print (it has since been reissued by DRG), as was THE GRAND TOUR. Arkiv is selling Sony-released stock of MAME and DEAR WORLD and both titles are still in print and available through regular retail outlets from Song. (Assuming you can FIND a regular retail outlet these days.)
Although NEW FACES OF 1952 was issued on CD by a Public Domain label in the U.K. that edition was dubbed from a worn Lp pressing. These Arkiv releases will use the original master tapes. NEW FACES OF '52 will include "Time for Tea" which was recorded for the original LP but left off sure to timing restrictions. It was added to RCA Red Seal's 1977 reissue in the Legendary Broadway Shows series.
NEW FACES OF 1956 will include several tracks that were not issued on the Lp.
Another title coming from Arkiv is the 1953 Jule Styne musical HAZEL FLAG starring Helen Gallagher. This title has also been around on CD from a British PD label, but this will be the first legal release on CD.
I wonder if Arkiv could get BONANZA BOUND released. RCA Victor recorded this 1947 show during the out-of-town try-outs because a recording ban was looming. The show closed on the road and the album was never officially released.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I appreciate frc2's knowledge and comments about historic recordings and their availability on CD etc.
But coming from the UK, and being pedantic, the UK Hazel Flagg cd issue is absoluely legal...as you know, copyright in sound recordings in the UK is 50 years.
That situation is under threat at the moment, but until it's changed...

^ Usually on iTunes and Amazon.
So happy to hear of the release of JIMMY at long last!
The 1976 recording of Threepenny is one of the best recordings out there. I'm so thrilled it's coming to CD. I'm preordering it now!

Is the Threepenny the one with Raul Julia?
It is the one with Raul Julia
I really wanted Jimmy out on CD. I actually saw Jimmy & liked it. Unfortunately, a big production number called "The Walker Years" had been taken out before I saw it but it was still in the Playbill.Perhaps they will be releasing those RCA albums not on CD yet. If so, great news.
I already ordered Jimmy, 3 Penny & Disinhairited which I thought was a lost cause for CD release.

Yes, you are right. I should have stated that more clearly. These releases are legal in the UK, but they technically cannot be legally sold in the US where they are still under copyright. (Amazon anf Footlight are selling them anyway.) But the PD releases are merely dubbed from exiisting LP, or 78 rpm copies. Arkiv will have access to RCA's master tapes.

Can someone enlighten me as to what Disinhairited is?
The original master tapes will invariably ( but not always..from the pop side, the Beatles cds are poor, but there's a bunch of bootleg transfers which are far superior) sound better than dubs..but the existence of pd releases chivies the recording owners to give value, quality products when, as we all know, they generally couldn't be bothered and will let a recording go out of print or present it in a shoddy, cheap way.
Mr Disney is lobbying hard to extend the 50 year rule, but he may still be beat!
Rentboy:
DisinHAIRited is a collection of Galt MacDermot songs that were cut from Hair and with a few others from other shows along with a few additional songs he wanted to put on an album.
BTW: I didn't have any trouble finding most of the OP's list on LP in the last 3 years for less than $10.
I have:
1. Disinhairited
2. Jimmy
6. Grand Tour
7. New Faces 1952
8. New Faces 1956
Never looked for the other 3.
EDIT: I just looked at the site. I thought they bought the Jerry Herman catalog? Why no "Parade"? That is the only rare Jerry Herman recording. You can get the original LP used for $40 or more.
Was there ever a recording of "A to Z"?

SO excited for the 76 Threepenny...LOVE Ellen Greene's Pirate Jenny.
"DisinHAIRited" is a fun album. It's not quite a Galt MacDermot catalog album - it's all "Hair"-related tracks. Some of them are re-recordings of the songs that got left off the LP for reasons of space (but later got reissued on CD) - "Going Down", "The Bed", etc. It also contains cut songs and a couple of new tracks.
It's a fun album, but the performances aren't the best. Many of the "DisinHAIRited" songs were also recorded on the London "Fresh Hair" album, with much better singers and orchestrations. When they reissued the London CD a few years ago, they claimed that all of "Fresh Hair" was included on the CD, but that was a big fat lie and most of those tracks are still only on LP. I recommend looking for it - "One Thousand Year Old Man/So Sing The Children On The Avenue" and "Mess O' Dirt" in particular rock really damn hard.

The CD was out on the Decca Broadway label but appears to have been discontinued, so it would be likely to soon be available from Arkiv.
It's not a great album, sound wise or performance wise.

"So Sing The Children On The Avenue" is particularly simple, infectious and haunting. The playful repetitive melody is at complete odds with the lyrics. The first time I heard it, I couldn't get it out of my head. I love this little song.
"Parade" wasn't officially part of the Jerry Herman re-releases (which was concidered a "digital box set"). I'm guessing because all the other ones were on the RCA label, which I guess is under control of Sony's "Masterworks Broadway" lable, which was in charge of the re-releases.
But ARKIV does have "Parade" as part of it's CD-R print on demand lineup. It is difficult to find on the main ARKIVmusic site, but if you go to their "sister" site at arkivsong.com, you can find a webpage that shows just cast albums (though, it is not updated as much as thier main site, as it is still missing the recent Richard Rodgers re-releases of Oklahoma!, Carousel, and Rodgers conducting Rodgers). Here's the link:

Thank you for the info on Jerry Herman's PARADE. Arkiv lists it as mono. Does anyone have the Decca CD? Was it in mono? Because the original LP was issued in mono and stereo.
