Here's a sort of fun game. I'm going to name a cut song from a musical. Then, the next poster can rate it and post another for another to rate and so on...

If you haven't heard the song (which is a possibility) just post "Never heard it."

Oh, and rate the song itself. Not if it's good for the show or so on.

Never heard it.

"The Girl in 14G" (Cut from Thoroughly Modern Millie.)

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I'm surprised no one's bought the remasterd OBC of Cabaret.

I've never heard the one above me.

Cute song but I can see why they lost it.

(But when Barrett does his version of it...I love it more.)

what's the point of this game if no one has heard the song above them?

"Cooties"full version- Hairspray (it used to be just like "You Can't Stop the Beat" but the show ran forever)

The One on the Left (Sunday)

And stop with the "I don't know it." It ruins the game.

Apparantly my point wasn't clear enough. I'm going to bold it.

And stop with the "I don't know it." It ruins the game

Well, plenty of Columbia Masterwork Reissues have released Demos and sometimes their quite good and sometimes their quite bad. There's also a Lost in Boston collection of cut numbers.

Now, on the topic of the above song-

It needed to be cut to save time, but it's good otherwise

maybe it should be a game - name the musical it was cut from!

It's alright, can't hold a candle to Suddenly, Seymore. Good thing they replaced it, though a reprise of the title line exists at the end of Finale Ultimo

"The Beggar Woman's Lullaby"

You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl

"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor

"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

I like that one. It's quite funny!

And to answer so many of the same questions...demos of cut songs are often put on cast album reissues. I think this game is perfectly fine. Not the easiest, but fine.
