I watch SVU, but his talent is so wasted on it.  Every character has some sort of familial backstory - Olivia's son, Carisi's niece, Tutuola's son, Rollins' sister, etc. that makes us care about the character.  Barba has nothing.  He comes in to get the info about the case, wins, and leaves.

I've never gotten to see Esparza on stage, other than cabaret stuff, and really want him to return.  Some of these guesses have been great - love the idea of Carousel, Sweeney, or Hamilton.  Can't wait to hear what it actually is.

Sadly, I had long hoped that Esparza would take over as Pierre when Josh Groban left Comet. Oh, well.

Maybe he'll replace Andy Karl in Groundhog Day. Keep it in the SVU family.

This was my dream too! His "Dust and Ashes" would've been PHENOMENAL! (Side note: would he have had  any box office pull b/c of SVU?)

GHD is closing soon, isn't it?

At least two roles in "Iceman" are perfect for him. That's the prestige play revival of the season, he's a superb actor, I'd place a bet on "Iceman."

I'd be thrilled. I know this is unpopular, so don't hate me, but I prefer his acting over his singing. I like his singing, but I don't love it as much as his acting ability. He's so intense and his acting is amazing. Of course, I'd love to see him in a musical again too, but if I could choose, I'd pick a play.

Regarding whether or not Esparza would have box office pull because of SVU, well I'd say maybe. SVU (and the Law and Order franchise to be exact) have a large and loyal fanbase. One of the main reasons it's been around for over a decade. I mean, even if he wasn't in Great Comet and opened another show anew, say like the Iceman revival. If you were to ask me if they should use the fact that he was in SVU for marketing reasons, I'd say yes. I honestly think that it won't hurt either. I mean, I feel that that's a show that has more of a following and may perk up more ears than say Homeland due to its major following and longevity.

I mean I'll see anything he's in thats good and shows him at his best. Not that I'd want to see him leave SVU permanently because he's almost more of a staple in it than any of the previous ADA's we've seen, but heaven knows I've wanted him back on Broadway fro a while now too. If he does leave SVU, I'll miss those high levels of pure sarcastic, snarky, Cuban sass.

Actually in more recent seasons he's gotten some background, but by no means was it a lot. Also, that comment to Richard....DEAR GOD LET IT HAPPEN. I literally had to watch to make sure people weren't playing with me, and I gasped a bit just hearing say it....There's SOMETHING up his sleeve, I almost don't care what it is, as long as it shows off his splendidness and is good. Umm...this rumored second revival of Evita perhaps?? I've seen some old clips of his Che from back, and LAWDIE I thought I was gonna die from his pure electricity!
