There's a bunch but from everything I've heard and of course my own personal experiences, no one comes close to Greg Jbara, I love him...
But others that are up there for me...
Jenn Gambetese...she is adorable and soo incredibly sweet
Matt Morrison...I met him once w/ a friend and I went back to Dessa Rose and he saw me and remembered me and hugged me and has done so anytime I've seen him, I loved it, very sweet
Anthony Rapp...met him on the Rent set and of course talked to him here, what a wonderful human being
Victoria Clark...after I told her she absolutely deserved the tony, proceeded to tell her I saw all the other performances and she was pretty amazed by me and we talked quite a bit
Michael Arden...met him in DC, very big sweetheart, mentioned he noticed me during the lecture/performance thingie sitting in the front w/ my Wicked shirt(Stephen Schwartz was there) lol
Denis O'Hare...talked to him after Sweet Charity where again I happened to be wearing a Wicked shirt, he was like ohh I love Wicked and we talked about it for 3 minutes lol
Jose Llana...my first Angel, so happy to talk to him and pretty much most of the cast of Spelling Bee
Sutton Foster, sweet and great w/ fans
Scott Porter from Altar Boyz...he talked to us about messing up on a dance move lol and I really enjoyed talking with him, he's quite gorgeous
Raul was very nice and personable when I met him at the chitty stage door, we joked about tick tick tick boots lol
I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting but really so many broadway actors are sweet and really appreciate fans who appreciate their work
Edit: Gotta add Barrett Foa(never got to meet Johnny ), Steph and Ann from Q...talked to them for awhile, they stood our talking and posing with everyone for quite a while, great people
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli
Meeting Keala Settle was by far my best experience meeting an actor. Marissa was very sweet when I met her in California...I've have to say that most of the touring cast of LSOH was great-==-b/c when one of the actors saw that my group of friends were waiting for autographs, they told the entire cast and they all came out to sign. I guess I've never really had a rude experience meeting an actor.
I met Mario Cantone and he is really nice! We talked for a bit about The Producers and Assassins. I told him that my school was putting on Seussical and he said "It sucks that you only get to do three shows". Anyway, Mario's nice to talk too. Also, actors I've met after regional shows near me(I live in Massachusetts) have been really nice. A few professional theatre people who are helping out with a musical I'm in are extremely nice.
david ayers was really nice to me when i stagedoored wicked... also, cary shields, marcus paul james (such a sweetie), kelly karbacz, karmine alers... and andy meeks, dan rosenbaum and aswad from the rent tour and i think the nicest actors (not to mention people) i will ever meet are the cast members from the AIDA production in ogunquit: angela williams, eric lajuan summers, sebastian arcelus, emily drennan and damien deshaun smith. (yeah i went four times and yeah we were basically the only people who stagedoored, but still. they're really nice.)
Bernadette Peters Kristin Chenoweth Sutton Foster Idina Menzel Jenny Powers Jessica Grove Euan Morton Stephanie J. Block Hugh Jackman Alicia Silverstone Louise Pitre Marissa Winokur John Dossett Carol Burnett Delta Burke The entire original cast of Avenue Q (with the exception of Natalie. She may be nice, but I did not meet her) Jeff McCarthy Liza Minnelli Linda Eder Rob Evan Isabelle Keating Christian Borle
"It's the little things; the details, that distinguish the Barbra Streisands from the Rosalyn Kinds."~Gilmore Girls~
Susan Egan was the sweetest and most gracious person I have ever met outside the stage door. She gave me a huge hug after I introduced myself from an e-mail I had sent her, chatted away and told me how wonderful it was to meet me. I had the best experiences meeting her, and I'll never forget her kindness.
I also have to go with Christina Applegate - she is obviously a huge "A-list" star, and I give her so much credit for saying hello and signing an autograph for every single person at the Charity stagedoor. She was so nice to me and my friends (I went with my 6 best friends for a graduation present) and told us congratulations and posed for a picture, even though there were many announcements made that she wouldn't do such a thing. I really enjoyed meeting her too.
I forgot to mention this but when I saw a production Of The Who's Tommy in Massachusetts I met some really nice actors after the show. I met Robyn Elizabeth Lee, Jake Simpson, Brad Bass, Andrew Giordano, Scott Marshall, and some other people. All of them are really nice. Tommy was a great show! I saw it three or four times.
I don't usually hang around stage doors, I'm kinda shy about that stuff, and I don't want to be invasive. BUT, when I did go to the stagedoor after BKLYN, the whole cast was super nice. You can tell when someone really doesn't mind talking to fans, though, versus the actors who do it because they must. Lee Morgan, Karen Olivo, and Cleavant Derricks (a Tony winner!) were those people. Just as personable and gracious as can be. Eden Espinosa and Ramona Keller were very nice, but they had tons of people clamoring around them, and I didn't have as much time with them, so no slam on them at all.
VB: Mr. Wonka, my name is Violet Beauregard...
WW: I don't care.
Almost everyone I've met has been nice, but some people in particular that really stick out in my mind.
Jeffrey Carlson. My favorite person in the world. Wonderful man.
Celia Keenan-Bolger. I think she's probably the sweetest girl on earth.
Victoria Clark. Just the most approachable, personable woman. So sweet. You feel like you've known her your whole life.
Erin Dilly. She complemented me on my earrings before I even got a chance to complement her on her performance!
Kevin Cahoon was so funny. We decided to hold the Chitty playbill in front of us while taking our picture.
I think I will always remember how Raul Esparza reacted to my telling him that he is my favorite actor in the world, and that he is so brilliant. He did this shy little head bow and laugh and just kept saying "That's so sweet of you to say." The most humble guy you'll ever meet.
Jan Maxwell seemed genuinely touched that I knew that she won the Drama Desk, since everyone else there that night was like "Congrats on the Tony!" (It was the night before the Tonys) and she kept saying "Oh, I haven't won yet!" Haha, so when I said "Congrats on the Tony nomination AND the Drama Desk award!" She touched my arm and said "Thank you and so nice to meet you!" so genuinely. Updated On: 8/1/05 at 03:34 PM
My first stagedoor experience was when I saw Spamalot, and everyone was very nice. David Hyde Pierce posed for a photo with me and signed my playbill, and Alan Tudyk (who was replacing Hank Azaria) was also very nice (the person next to me saw Hank and Alan asked how he compared to him). Christopher Sieber was very kind, and so was James Ludwig (understudying for Steve Rosen). Michael McGrath was very funny and nice. Christian Borle, Tim Curry and Sara Ramirez didn't come out, but I'm sure they are very nice.
Stephanie J Block Stephanie D'Abruzzo Angela Lansburry Eden Espinosa Megan Hilty Jenna Leigh Green
Those were the nicest ones out of the ones I met...I know I left some out.
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
I absolutely adore John Tartaglia. I met him after Q one night with some friends of mine. They are friends with his boyfriend and we all went to dinner. He is such an amazing person. So genuine and sweet and caring, and not to mention a cutie!
Kelli O'Hara was also a pleasure to meet. She was very sweet at the stage door of Piazza.
AngelofAveB---How was AIDA. A really good friend of mine was in the show. He was just ensemble but his name is Ben Franklin. I saw Eric in Aida in NYC. I talked to him after the show cause he went to school with some friends of mine so we chatted about that.
shelley thomas, megan hilty, and gregory jbara are definitely some of the sweetest actors on broadway now. (ok, so shel isn't on anymore. and her Brooklyn didn't match Eden by FAR, but she was stil a definite sweetheart.
john tartaglia stephanie d'abruzzo jennifer bernhardt mark kudisch jeremy kushnier julia murney greg jbara the cast of spelling bee
"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell
plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!
David Ayers and Megan Hilty are two of the nicest people I have ever met, not just in the theatre community. Erin Dilly is also a sweetheart, she started a convesation with my friend and meat the stagedoor and was so friendly and personable.
I'm not gonna even attempt to list all of the wonderful celebrities that I have had the pleasure of working with, know or have met but I can tell you that the most genuine, kind, funny, warm and lovable human being that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing was Dolly Parton. She is just as she seems and then some!
