I’m not sure if Dear Evan Hansen shares the same producers or what not as Hadestown, but when two shows that are basically competing for the same audience show a comradery like this is very heartwarming to see. You don’t really see stuff like this in other entertainment fields. It always seems like the tv networks or music records are fighting each other, but I feel the exact opposite when it comes to the theatre and the way all broadway shows interact with one another.

It's very common –– yes, it's a nice gesture, but it's also exposure for the show that created the content. One might argue that Avenue Q was one of the first to do this, with their joke ads using the puppets for each new show that opened. (Hand of God also did it.)

DEH has gone overboard with things like this. I think it was Valentine's Day, when they did a "Dear ___" posts for literally any celebrity.
