There is a small group of us going to The Tonys and I'm looking for some recommendations of somewhere to eat beforehand. We don't want to spend a fortune but we also don't want a Big Mac. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I like Rosie O'Grady's, which is on 52nd & 7th (I think).

John's Pizzeria(West 44th St.) Very good pizza, can be noisy.

We also love the Cafe Edison (in the lobby of the Edison hotel--you can enter from either 47th (back entrance) or 48th (front entrance, across from the Barrymore theater.) VERY casual, but good "diner"/Polish/Jewish food like matzo ball soup, blintzes, etc., plus the usual sandwiches, burgers, specials. Service is fast.

I know it's probably a little further uptown than you'd like, but a friend and I just ate at Sushi A-Go-Go, which is at 1900 Broadway (right across from Lincoln Center). the atmosphere was a little kitschy, but the food was absolutely delicious, and reasonably priced (especially for the area). and the coconut sangria is HIGHLY recommended.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

I like the Playwright on 49th. And, it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. A nice varied menu.

The Hilton on Avenue of the Americas is right up the street from Radio City. They have a casual cafe with very good food. The Chicken Caesar salad is my favorite! And, they have a fantastic carrot cake for dessert!

I loved "Billy" when I saw it in December. It deserves all the attention that it's getting! And, I'm sure it will dominate on Tony night, as well it should.

Thanks for all the information - it really is appreciated. I have also been recommended Trattoria Trecolori. Any comments on this place?

We are doing Edison's earlier in the week. Ate there last time I was in New York and really enjoyed it.

I am a big fan of Billy Elliot so won't be puking - LOL.

When my friend and I went to The Tonys back in 1998 when "Lion King" won, we had a late dinner and dessert at Le Cirque after the show. That day, we saw the closing matinee performance of "The Life."

It was such a wonderful day!
