I'm a little confused. We all know Reeve was recently cast in the Untitled Jeff Buckley biopic, but no one is saying that he'll be departing Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Could this mean he's only leaving the show temporarily to shoot the film or are we just supposed to assume he's departing the show for good?
Well...we didn't all know. (And to be honest, I don't know who Jeff Buckley is -- my pop culture is practically non-existent.) Do you know when they begin filming? Did we ever hear if contracts were re-negotiated? And if so, as of when?
Edit: of course, NOW, I see the article above! lol.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I didn't know who Buckley was either. Isn't Carney's contract due to be up at some point this fall? (If it is a year's contract) If I see the show again, I would like to see him in it. Love his voice.
In the new article that BWW just posted, it says that Reeve will return to Spider-Man after shooting for the movie is completed. From what I understand filming begins in November and is suppose to last for four months or so.
it was part of the original announcement, they release said that the two understudies would be covering the role while he was away for the short time: Matt Caplan and I do not know the other guys' name
I'm sure you can find a much better and detailed entry about Jeff Buckley on Wikipedia, etc., but singer-songwriter Buckley released his first (much acclaimed) solo LP Grace, in 1994 and appeared poised for a major music career until he drowned, quite tragically at a very young age. There is a tremendous physical similarity between Jeff Buckley and Reeve Carney, and some musical similarities as well. From my vantage point, being quite familiar with the music of Jeff Buckley, and knowing Carney from various TV performances and interviews, it's a fine piece of casting. I'll be rather surprised if this doesn't work out well for both Reeve Carney and the Buckley estate. I seem to recall there is possibly a rival film bio in the works. Can't remember the details, and perhaps it died once the Carney bio was solidified. Yes, filming begins in November, but I thought Carney was going to miss less than four months for shooting. I'm probably wrong as that seems reasonable.

Matthew James Thomas, Reeve Carney's alternate. (Who, IMO, is a hell of a lot better anyway.)

How is the chemistry between Spidey and MaryJane these days? Any reflection of the off-stage drama?
Lots of movies are announced and never reach fruition, sems like the Buckley movie has been at least pushed back a bit. Reeve looks a lot like Buckley but it will be interesting to see if he can act.
I saw the show for the second time last Sunday , the first time I saw the show was in January. I enjoyed the show the first time but I much prefer the new version to the previous . My favorite parts remained , and I thought the relationship between Peter and Mary Jane was appropriately a bigger part of the story. I thought the chemistry between the two was great , more so than the first time I saw the show. I was not aware of any off stage drama though - do tell ! I would like to see the show again in Dec. so I hope Reeve doesn't leave before then .
