I am about to buy tickets to see Waitress on June 12th. I wanted to make sure that the regular cast with be performing because it is the day of the Tony Awards. The show is at 2pm and Tony's are at 8pm so i assume it's not understudies. Does any one if understudies perform or the regular cast?

Tony day performances typically feature all regularly scheduled performers, unless otherwise noted.

I did read somewhere that Lin-Manuel Miranda will not be performing in Hamilton on Tony day. Don't know about the other major cast members.

Miranda will not be performing in the matinee on Tony day. It's on the show's website. I believe it falls on Javi's normally scheduled performance day.

^actually,I believe it was a change.
But that's rare. The vast majority of the time, the Tonys are not an excuse for absences.

I can't speak from much experience since I've only ever seen one show on Tony day, but last year the full cast of "The Visit" was on (and very much on top of their game). From what I gather, the regular cast typically will perform, so you should be fine (barring, of course, any illnesses or other regular reasons for absences).
