Stupid joke on Til Death last night.

The newly promoted theater teacher was going to do a mixed production of Rent and Yentl called "Ren-tl".

So, that joke should actually be, approximately:

"We're going to do a musical about a bunch of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of AIDS, and we've gotten Barbra Striesand to star in it!"

"What's it gonna be called?"

"Rentl".

How close did they get?

I don't remember how the joke went, but the character was looking for a role for herself and said something like "I'm going to play a gay, cross-dressing Jewish girl"
