If you have such strong feelings about it, it must have provoked you in some way, and that was the idea.

I loved the film, as something entirely separate from the play. Much like the film version of Cabaret cannot be compared with the play, Rent is a much different movie from the stage version. It is a different story. Period. And as that, it was pretty good. But when you start to compare, it is difficult. Just like when they make a film of a book you liked. We're always looking at things that weren't included on film, and we can't do that or we won't appreciate a new work of art. And as such, I really liked it. The play is still better, but, uh, right.. So, don't compare, I guess...?

I have no strong feelings about it as a piece...how could anybody?? It was so empty and cheesy.

What I do have strong feelings about is that fact that it was made and that people on the BWW boards actually promote and appreciate it.

I have seen many productions this year (both original and revived) which were good/great/excellent. Most of them were NOT on Broadway (or Off-Broadway). Broadway really whored itself this year for all the wrong reasons and the result was absolutely terrible theatre.

I enjoyed Doubt and The Pillowman.

I have time and time again expressed my enjoyment of these productions and many others.

All right, so we're ALL immature! Now settle down!

Some like Rent, some don't. Some like Cats, some don't. Some like Wicked, some don't. Some like life, some don't. Some like ham, some don't. Some like Pepsi, some don't. SO GET OVER IT!!! Not just 422, but everyone (including me, at times). That should be the universal New Year's resolution for everyone on this board. Let other people have opinions. You can have yours, you can state yours, you can even occasionally JOKINGLY make fun of those who have different ones than yours. But be civil, people, c'mon!

I think RENT was one of the best movies this year! i was so glad it came out on film beucase i cant see it on broadway due to finincal problems so the only way i can see it is on video im so glad it came out on film or i never would have discovered the rentness of it all.

So who ever put rent on the Terrible 20 list is a loser but at least its down on the scale its better than number one or number two.
