Posted: 4/23/06 at 9:54pmWait- you have to be in black tie for the show?!?! or just the event after???? The lotto tickets don't include the event (or the 500 ones on ticketmaster) so I mean I wouldn't wear jeans but I bought a 500 ticket and am definitly not going in black tie!

Posted: 4/23/06 at 10:20pmWell bwaylover they won't throw you out or anything for how you're dressed, but you may stick our or just feel underdressed. Most of the people there I would assume would be very dressed up.

I was just checking the train schedules, and it looks like it's not quite feasible for me to go home if I would happen to get incredibly lucky. If this was an 8:00 performance, it wouldn't be an issue.
Well, I may just have to throw a short black dress in my bag and hope for the best. I can't feasibly carry anything more than that.

Posted: 4/23/06 at 10:31pmWell I am dressing nice but not like really nice- I didn't think I had to really. Who said the performance was black tie?? that seems a bit unreasonable

Posted: 4/23/06 at 10:34pmi'm gonna try to win along with the rest of NYC... is this concert going to feature the OBC in costume or in their own clothing like the last reunion?

Posted: 4/23/06 at 10:36pmi mean for the event is one thing- but the first two rows for lotto and the rear mezz for the $500 tickets dont include the event so I would think people would not be THAT dressed up- esp if you win the lotto a few hours beforehand and are not prepared- i mean i wouldnt wear jeans but the whole idea of RENT is that people with limited funds can see it- so yeah i have the money for the ticket but now i have to spend more to get a black tie outfit just for the show? I don't think so. If your going to the event straight from there then yeah I would be dressed up but not just for the performanace.

Posted: 4/23/06 at 10:38pmI heard there will be costumes and today someone at the nederlander told me it would be a full performance

Calm down. I agree you shouldn't have to buy a new dress or whatever. But even me, I don't own one dress and I put together a very nice outfit--I'm sure you can find one in your wardrobe.
I see your point about the lotto, but I wouldn't count on people who spent $500 not getting very dressed up.
Look, whatever you want to wear is your perogative. There's really no reason to get all worked up. I'm just pointing out that others may be very dressed up, and that may or may not affect how you dress. It's up to you.

Posted: 4/23/06 at 11:37pmI know this sounds sketchy, but it's really not, but if anyone is willing to give me their cell # that will be at the lottery at an earlier time. I just need figure out if it's worth rushing down when I get out of class at 2 pm because I would be missing something of importance, I would be very grateful. PM me.

Posted: 4/24/06 at 1:01amI'm absolutely not going to be there, but I wanted to wish you all the best of luck! Have a blast, even if it's just on the sidewalk for an hour or two.

Posted: 4/24/06 at 7:57amSorry- I guess it sounded like I am freaking out but I am not. I did go out and buy two new tops yesterday am but I don't have a nice bottom to go with it- just brown pants that are sort of nice but also kind of casual- however with either of the tops I bought it does dress it up a lot. I mean I have been to a few black tie events- I mean thats like a full out gown to me so I was just *slightly* panicing lol. I don't really care what anyone thinks about what I am wearing really but I hate going to an event and not looking appropriate.

I was going to the lotto today, now I don't think I can because of work. But I have someone who is taking me if they win!!
And I will be in jeans. Can't go home to change.

Posted: 4/24/06 at 10:39amHonestly I wouldn't stress the dressing up issue. It was never black tie and always come as you are. You won't stick out in jeans.

Posted: 4/24/06 at 12:47pmi decided not to go... I feel crappy, probably not going to win which will make me feel even more crappy and I have rehearsal that I'd be skipping out on and that's probably not right to do when our show opens next week. I love the OBC but, my starting out career probably should come first at this point in my life.

Posted: 4/24/06 at 1:34pmOkay I just talked to the Nederlander and she said DO NOT WEAR JEANS!!!! or sneakers- the event after IS black tie, NOT the performance- lottery winners and the people that bought the $500 tickets should dress nicely but not black tie that is overboard- you will look ridiculous lol but DONT WEAR JEANS that is too under dressed she said dont do that but wear slacks or something. I can breathe now- off to get ready!!!

I'm so sad....I want to be there so badly but I can't miss my class today. I have a friend who is there right now though and is going to put a card in for us, but the chances are so slim. I walked by Rent as I always do on my way to school around 1230 and there were probably 50-75 people there. She just got there about 15 minutes ago (130ish) and she said there were probably 500 if not more. She had to walk down a few blocks just to get to the end of the line.
But still...it's worth a try! I would give anything to get to go tonight. :o(

I just talked to one of the organizers, and she said: "Don't people understand Come As You Are?"
She said it is NOT black tie. They hope people aren't sloppy, but it will most likely be a mix of some people dressed up, some people funky, some a bit more casual...
It IS an event, but it is not formal.
Hope that helps...

Posted: 4/24/06 at 1:52pmwow, who did you talk to? I just called the theater and she said it is- oh well I am dressing nicely but not formal- just a nice top and brown pants- Oh well, I am not stressing I just can't wait!!! (praying it does not rain and I'll be stuck outside waiting to get in in it)

How was the lottery? Does BWW have any winners? :) Couldn't make it in the very end... my friend wouldn't cut class with me. It's gym for the love of anything.
Have fun who ever is going tonight... I wish they would put this on on DVD. *sigh* I'll keep RENT 15 in mind...
