I'm hearing some things about the original Broadway cast of Rent doing a performance on April 24 as a 10th reunion special.

Just wondering if anyone else heard about this. If so, how did you hear about it?

God bless that man! *steps off her 'I Love Anthony' soapbox for a moment...but just a moment*

I got it from the same place, the blog. Already saving up...where's Emcee to blow us away with her vast knowledge?

1. Ted Allen: Everyone has an interesting life if you ask the right questions.
2. Great buckets of Spoffnor, they're going to sing!

4. "We're not singing it to you, we're singing it for us." -Rosario Dawson, about La Vie Boheme
5. "The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours." -The History Boys
6. "Pass the parcel. That's sometimes all you can do. Take it, feel it and pass it on. Not for me, not for you, but for someone, somewhere, one day. Pass it on, boys. That's the game I want you to learn. Pass it on." -The History Boys

*hums merrily while building a temple to Emcee, flanked (of course) by the temple of Raul Esparza and the shrine of Diva Pascal. I mean, Adam Diva-Hairflip. I mean...Adam Pascal. There we go*

Good point. *instead builds a temple for Emcee and makes Adam and Raul be her attending slave men for whatever use she has for them...*

How in the world could they make the tickets $1,000 and $1,000? I want to see this show so badly but paying that much for 1 three hour show is ridiculous!

They can make the tickets cost that much because it's an awesome show with the ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST!!! I'm saving my money up.

Hence the word "benefit."

Ack, well it certainly doesn't benefit me re: Rent 10th Anniversary Reunion Show?

So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.~Office Space

I don't think we're the ones they're thinking of when the word "benefit" is in there.

I haven't really read much about it...are they doing the whole show? The 5 year benefit was only an hour long. Don't get me wrong, it was very enjoyable, but I'd be curious if (benefit or not) they'll be singing through the whole show for that hefty price???

I think this is an actual performance of Rent. Costumes and everything. Or at least that's the idea I get when they say "benefit performance". If it were just them singing, wouldn't they say "concert"?

I hadn't really read much about it...I've just been reading about the "benefit" or "benefit show" which could go either way. I'm sure whatever they're going to do is still kind of up in the air, considering it's not until the end of April. Maybe? *shrug*

My best guess is that it will not be a full-out performance of the show. More like a concert--the whole show sung through--no real staging, no costumes. I guess that's kind of like the Les Mis 10th anniversary thing.
At $1000 a tix, I'll never know. But I still stick to my original idea, it should be one of the extras on the movie DVD.

It will be a sung through concert but it is at the Neder so I'm assuming there will be staging or else they could really just do it anywhere.

Speaking of which, who exactly DOES benefit from this concert? Where is the $$ going?

I tried to convince my mother into going by telling her it was for dying orphan puppies who have AIDS and are unwed mothers!! :)

I think it either goes to BC/EFA or The Jonathan Larson Foundation.

Since the Jonathan Larson Foundation site says that the benefit is "for the Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation, Friends In Deed and New York Theatre Workshop", I'm assuming those organizations will get the proceeds.

$1,000 dollars????? *faints* I'm only 16, I don't have that kind of money! And even if I did, like my parents would let me spend it on a performance. AGGHHH cruel fate!! Why must it be against me seeing the OBC live once in my life....WHY. *end spaz attack*

i know im 14 and when I told my mom about it she laughed in my face. I mean I do understand 1000 is crazy for one show, I think it's kinda unfair they charge that much but I understnad they want to make a profit.
