Posted: 7/22/05 at 1:06pmWhile, again, it's a benefit, but I don't think they need $1000 to "make a profit."

Posted: 7/22/05 at 3:42pmyeah i agree i wish it was less..but i think even for 500 dollars my mom wouldnt agree to that so idk. I think it's kinda mean that they charged that much in a way becuase they know how many people care so much about the show and would want to go and to make it a one day only thing for 1000 dollars thats just crazy.

Well, I mean that is the meaning of benefit, its not about making profit, its about donating to charity, and they know they can get that much easily for this performance...
...However, I don't think this performance should have been a benefit, it seems to be going against the spirit of this particular show to exclude so many dedicated artists/theater fans who simply can't aford those prices, whether for charity or anything else...
...Que Sera at least we'll have the movie

Ok everyone.....
go to my post for getting our own perfomance.....
The show belongs to the fans not the rich elite.....
please go to this post
https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.cfm?thread=860290&dt=072205042958
and help us receive a performance of our own.
we have a little less than a year. Lets get to work.
The show show should be for the fans I think Johnathan would want it that way.

Posted: 7/22/05 at 6:35pmI'm so there. I have funds stashed and was waiting for a good reason to blow it on something and this is the best possible way I can think of. Besides, it's for a good cause and is probably tax-deductible.

What seems to have been forgotten in all this are the cast members themselves - no doubt they are donating their time (which includes rehearsal as well as the performance itself) in order to benefit these organizations. It seems to me that to charge way less than can be gotten for these tickets would be foolish, and a disservice to everyone - except all the poor RENTheads wanting to see the show, of course.
However, think about this. If tickets were considerably less, would any of us have much more chance of getting in than with the lottery? First dibs would probably go to those who've already donated to the beneficiaries, and whatever was left over would still be a lot less seats than there are people who'd want to get in.
Take your chances with the lottery (and be grateful that chance exists), or save your money and try to get one of the expensive tickets. I bet even they will be scarce!

Posted: 7/22/05 at 9:19pm$1,000 is still crazy, and that's U.S. I'm assuming so ya that is way too much for anyone to pay. That makes me sad, does anyone know if this will be taped or on TV?

Posted: 7/25/05 at 1:56pmThey should do what the Actors Fund does and level it (i.e. $2500 for orch. & party, $1000 for front Mezz. and party and $250 for rear mezz and no party) or something to that effect.

just to clear it up, it will be a concert not an actual show. and the tickets r starting at $1000 and going up.
its a benifit people. they r doing it to raise money not so a bunch of broke teenagaes can come see the original cast. since i saw the original cast perform well over 10 times it will be nice to see them perform together again after soo long!! and in case any one was wondering it will be all 15 original cast members

Feng's thread was deleated, as were all of his threads whining about the cost of the benefit.
He just doesn't get it. BENEFIT!

Posted: 7/25/05 at 3:18pmThere was someone with an entitlement issue who didn't realize a benefit is there to benefit a group of people and/or organization and not priced accordingly so they could see this particular performance.

Posted: 7/25/05 at 3:39pmOh. My. Gosh. You have got to be kidding. Yea, that'll make them listen. That's one of the reasons benefit tickets cost so much, to keep people like that out.

Posted: 7/25/05 at 3:53pmWhere's the link to the other petition? It was to counter-act this petition, saying that they support the ticket prices for the benefit. That petition had over 20 sigs, this only has 6. Hmmm, maybe there are more intelligent people out there than I suspected.

Make that 3 out of 7.
And Feng is the one who started this petition. He's number 1....
