lovinlife, the NYTW website where you request invites says they will be sending them out in February or March, so no one has been able to get them yet. Either you were mistaken, or that person was lying.

If you request an invitation and then for some reason can not make it, are you required to but the ticket still? Basically is the invitation final?

From the link I just posted:

"Please request an invitation only if you are interested in purchasing full price tickets which range from $1000 - $2000 each."

They can't force you to buy a ticket, but they probably don't want to have to send out all these invites to people that never had any intentions of going and want it as a souvenir or something.

Yes, thanks, I read that, orangeskittles, I just wasn't positive if requesting and invitation automatically puts a person on the list for purchasing a ticket.

And don't worry, I am not that much of a sick RENThead to order and invitation for a souvenir. No point in that, for me at least. I wouldn't waste someone's time just so I can have every single flyer that has something RENT related on it. I'm just not positive if I can get away from school, into New York and all those necessary arrangements, but i wanted to request an invitation with the hopes that I might make it in (which is what I'm really working on right now)

How would they do the lottery online?? It's so easy for people to cheat that way.

They haven't announced anything about it yet. The details won't be posted until March.

::Sigh:: If only the tickets were about 900 dollars cheaper and New York about 900 miles closer to where I live, than I could go.

IdinaRocks...I don't think people could cheat if they did it online. I'm pretty sure you'd have to go pick up your tickets in person if you won, and have an ID with you, so it's not like you could register under all different names. The only thing I thought of is that you could have family members and friends who wouldn't want to go enter for you. But you might have to show ID the night of the show, too.

Either way, it's a better alternative to the idea of hundreds- probably thousands- of people lining up around the block that day. Plus the show will probably be pretty dressy so day-of lotto probably wouldn't work anyway.

I think online is better, so that people out of state can get a chance to win cheap tickets too.

I don't think it says yet, but I would imagine so. That way if someone out of the state wins, they could make travel arrangements to get there.

I don't know how they're going to do the lotto. But, I guess they have to ensure that people who win will definitely be able to attend. They'll also probably have to use SSNs or something, to make sure that people are who they say they are.

I begged my dad to get me a ticket for the showing with the OBC... needless to say he didn't go for it lol I pulled the old "Daddy how much do you love me" bit lol It worked when my sister and I wanted premium seats for Wicked.. but they were only 250 each, a bit of a stretch to 1000 lol.
