Is anyone planning on buying tickets for the 8:00 show on April 29th, 2006, seeing as it is the 10th Anniversary of Rent's opening. I am thinking about it. Also, who's excited Rent is going to be out for 10 YEARS! Haha
I think there's some confusion going on. The show on the 29th, the actual anniversary, is at the Nederlander with whoever the Broadway cast is at the time. There's also a special reunion benefit concert on the 24th with the original cast, with tickets going for $1000 and up, aside from a few set aside for a special lottery. Two different shows, two very different prices.
Personally, I think that they should do an extended version of SOL after the show (or concert, even), featuring all Rent alum. That would be one huge chorus.
Also, I wonder if Rosario and Tracie will be part of the concert in any way.

"They're singing, "Happy Birthday"
You just wanna lay down and cry
Not just another birthday, it's 30/90
Why can't you stay 29
Hell, you still feel like you're 22
Turn 30 in 1990
Bang! You're dead, what can you do?"

I don't think Rosario or Tracie will be part of it, but I think they understand. I've heard Tracie say that she will be in the audience cheering along.
When I asked my mom, she looked like she was going to have a heart attack right there. And then she said somethings that should not be repeated on this board. I would gladly give up my trip to Florida this year to go to the 10th Anniversary Concert.

It is actually not thirteen . The original cast cosists of 15 people. I know people only care about the "main 8" but it actually took all 15 of them to make that show and anyone who saw it originally will agree. Not being a jerk just setting the record straight. The others are pretty much always overlooked. An Original Rent Head '96
I believe that is still the plan. There is no possible way to do a lotto right outside the Nederlander - all of 41st street would have to be blocked off.
Yes, ALL of the original cast have been invited to be there, not just the eight 'leads'. Tickets will go on sale at some point next month to those who have requested invitations. No firm plan is in place yet for how to distribute tickets for the rush seats. It will definitely NOT be done AT the theatre, though. An announcement should be made at the same time as tickets go on sale.
Whoever it was who suggested that all previous castmembers be onstage for an extended version of SOL either hasn't been to the Nederlander or has no idea how many previous castmembers there are and where they are today. Both would be a physical impossibility!
p.s. fantabulous, the Neder is on 41st not 42nd. :)
