Rent The Movie

I really loved it, it took a while to get into it, but yeah, me and my friends were all sitting in tears at the end. Beautiful. And of course, the talent on that screen was phenominal. Anyone else?

re: Rent The Movie

I loved it. I saw it in Vue Portsmouth and there were only 4 people in the whole screen. I have the DVD(region 1) also but it is much more amazing on a huge screen. It has now left all the Cinemas in my area re: Rent The Movie

re: Rent The Movie

I caught the last screening in cardiff, I have the r1 dvd but it was so much better on the big screen, I found the film as powerful as the stage version and it was amazing to see the obc (give or take) performing. I'm just sad it wasn't really publicised here I'm a huge fan and I've waited months and I nearly missed it!!

re: Rent The Movie

I really enjoyed the movie version of RENT. I was completely surprised that I didn't cry.... I had lots of fun singing along with the movie...even though some of the songs changed a little from the OBCR.

re: Rent The Movie

I've never seen the show, and I absolutely adored the film - I thought it was incredibly harrowing, and I cried my eyes out at certain moments. I went with a friend who isn't that in to musicals, and she hasn't stopped listening to the CD since!

re: Rent The Movie

I thought it was okay. I liked the actors and actresses ( Idina Menzel & Taye Diggs) I also liked the story. I think it should just stay on stage, though.
Just because I got the lead doesn't mean you can't be my understudy!:)

re: Rent The Movie

Did the RENT film just open in England?

re: Rent The Movie

I haven't seen it around. I live in London so thats a bit of a shock hasn't seemed to be playing anywhere.

re: Rent The Movie

I believe Rent has already been and gone in UK cinemas. I didn't notice it even being here really. Shame.

re: Rent The Movie

It opened on the 7th of April in a very small amount of cinemas and left after a very short time. Way to give it a chance, distributors(!)

*is still heartbroken about not getting to see it on a big screen*

re: Rent The Movie

I liked it. Although I hated some of the directorial choices, many of the numbers were near flaweless, and the great performances from Rapp, Dawson, Menzel, Thomas, Heredia, and Martin really raised the movie several notches. I thought that Diggs and especially Pascal were disappointing.

re: Rent The Movie

I really love this movie too, and it's such a shame that it didn't have a better distribution, in all Italy it opened in just few cinemas, and after a week it was already gone. But it was nice to have a chance to see almost all the original cast on the big screen, and I don't get why all the bad reviews. Now I will wait for the DVD to come out so I'll have a chance to hear the original voices of the actors

re: Rent The Movie

I love the movie so much more than the stage show! And I don't think anyone was being disrepsectful. How were they, exactly, being disrespectful?

Yes, some of the songs were cut, and a few changes, but I don't think those changes affected the story.

Do Brits not learn PUNCTUATION?? There isn't one capital letter or punctuation in the entire post. WTF?

re: Rent The Movie

Oh my god, the Rent movie was amazing. I must admit i havent seen the stage show but i thought the film was fantastic. I watched it for about the millionth time last night and it gets me sobbing every time! The cast was very strong but i thought that Idina Menzel's performance was incredible as Maureen (but then i suppose i am biased as i am like her biggest fan and think that she is a living legend!!!) Cant wait to see Rent when it comes round on tour but even more so, i am counting the minutes til i go and c Idina in Wicked at the end of September!!)
