Rent salaries

Does anyone have a ballpark figure or educated guess as to how much $$ the BWay stars of RENT will be making in the movie?

re: Rent salaries

really? i would think they would be getting more. at least 500,000 to 1,000,000. i know its not some huge big budget movie, but still.

re: Rent salaries

may not have been huge budget but imagine the profit this picture will turn
hear the beat...

re: Rent salaries

How can you have any idea what kind of profit this picture turn?

re: Rent salaries

Well, the budget was around $35 million. I would guess that they all got around $150,000 and probably also will get a percentage of the profits

re: Rent salaries

I somehow don't see this as an evenly paid cast. Of the original broadway cast members, some have gone on to be more famous than others so unless they negotiated as a group, which I doubt, some performers we will be getting quite a bit more than others.

re: Rent salaries

hmm. from highest to lowest, what is a good guess? maybe rosario, taye, jesse, adam, anthony, idina, wilson, tracie. or maybe idina would be higher up. hmm.

re: Rent salaries

Hmm. I think it'll be more like Rosario, Taye, Idina, Adam, Jesse, Anthony, Wilson, Tracie

re: Rent salaries

Who cares? Are you their accountants or bankers?

re: Rent salaries

Taye Diggs, Rosario Dawson, and maybe Martin are known somewhat outside of this forum. The rest are pretty much Broadway types, unknown to the general public. No star here is going to "lure" people in. $$$ will reflect that.
#11

re: Rent salaries

No, I am sure Rosario is on top
#12

re: Rent salaries

Yes--and Rapp is definately bottom.
#13

re: Rent salaries

well how much do they make on bway? like how much did idina get for Wicked?
#14

re: Rent salaries

no correlation between theater salaries and film or tv...
#15

re: Rent salaries

but (i know im thread jacking here but..) i'm jw how much ppl get paid on broadway, the $100 ticket should help a little bit.

re: Rent salaries

A very top star like Nathan Lane or Matthew Broderick willmake 100000/week. Most make much less--Christina Applegate, for example, is the reason for Charity, and makes 10000/week. This is nothing compared to film/TV.
#17

re: Rent salaries

Yeah, Matthew Broderick probably made at least $1 mill an episode, on Sex and the City, at least.

re: Rent salaries

Rosario is making close to $1M -- the others are working closer to scale (150-350G). Almost all film contracts give actors a small percentage of B.O. profit and from dvd/soundtrack sales, etc.

Keep in mind that the original cast or RENT were all given (pretty graciously) a point share in the property by the Larson estate. So they all still get royalty checks from all theatrical productions of the show (including Broadway)and probably received something from the initial sale of the film rights.

re: Rent salaries

It was a low budget movie so no one is making a huge paycheck. Sag Run of the Film minimum is around $70,000. No one makes huge amounts of money these days, but you earn a ton on the back end if the movie is successful. A client in "The Sixth Sense" who made scale for about 3 days work, and got a residual check after the DVD was released that was about $60,000.

re: Rent salaries

If we're discussing ranks of fame, and assuming that it would've had a role in how much they were paid, why would you say that Anthony Rapp is on the bottom? He's certainly done more film work than some of the other cast members, which should count for something.

re: Rent salaries

Rapp would not be the bottom, I'm sure Thoms or Heredia would be. Come to think of it, I don't think any of them would lure people to the movie, so i'm doubting it'd make a difference. I'm sure Rosario is making the most, follow by Taye, and Martin. Menzel is probably the biggest lure of the "striictly theatre" people, followed by Pascal, but who knows if they're making more than the others?

re: Rent salaries

thesbijean - it was merely a question.
#23

re: Rent salaries

it's a joke~sexual innuendo, ya know?
#24

re: Rent salaries

Menzel and Chenoweth both got 25,000 a week in Wicked or close to that Reidel said in one of his columns last year for one of you that asked..

re: Rent salaries

Only $25K? I thought they made much more...
