Content aside, which alone makes it somewhat inappropriate, do you think they are going to be able to comprehend the many different themes of RENT, like drug abuse, poverty, LGBT issues, and HIV?

I shudder to think at how middle schoolers would react to watching Collins and Angel’s love scenes, as relatively asexual as they are

Fourteen year olds would be able to comprehend and appreciate the show.  Absolutely.

I think if you feel they are mature enough to not feel too awkward around one another while watching it, then I think middle schoolers would be perfectly capable of handling the content. :)

The Subject Line made me think it was going to be about middle schoolers performing in a production of Rent. I immediately thought that it would be ripe for a spoof by South Park. Lol
