Renthead anecdontes?
#0Renthead anecdontes?
Posted: 8/8/04 at 9:04amI was just wondering if any rentheads on the board could share any fun crazy camping out experiences, or anything of the like. The Rent craze was slightly before my time (i'm 18 ), so I missed out on that, but would really like to experience the phenomenon vicariously through you people! If there are any websites where people posted things like this I would love to read em.

Compulsivebowlers.com is a website that might interest you (for reading) and... There's also some discussion of the Renthead craze -- which still persists -- in the Rent Bible (the big black book called "Rent," which you can buy at Borders).
I've never camped out for it, but that's because I'm usually so desperate to see it that I don't want to risk not getting the rush tickets.

When my RENT obsession peaked a few years ago I was the same way. "I missed the boat!" There are some really cool websites I liked, the Idina one is really good, great stories. www.geocities.com/Broadway/9596/Idina.html
There are also some nice sites that recount the OBC's last performances which was nice. I'll have to dig them up.

CompulsiveBowlers.com is a great site for RentHeads. There used to be a message board on siteforrent.com, but it's no longer working, so CB.com is a great one.
I've never camped out or done anything like that, but I think that would be kind of fun!

Posted: 8/8/04 at 12:23pmCB.com is a little scary. That's why I don't post- I just read!!

Posted: 8/8/04 at 12:24pmya, i checked out that site. It was a little too extreme for me. I have read most of the stories on idina's site though already. I just figured there had to be some current/former rentheads here!

Posted: 8/8/04 at 3:59pmYou want scary? The Rentheads in my high school would study for molecular biology tests by setting the names of molecules to Rent songs. It was downright bizarre.

There's nothing scarier than the man who's seen Rent over 1000 times.
And I have a friend who used to work the Nederlander...he couldn't believe how many times some people would return. Rent was like their drug...they were down and then they saw the show.
Plus, most of them are apparently ignorant to the fact that there is other theatre in the world. And of course, there will never EVER be another show that is half as god as Rent. Rentheads just scare me...
LOL...I'm done

Posted: 8/8/04 at 5:32pmOh yes- Joel (the guys who's see it over 1000 times) probably set a record. He's got to be at 1070 by now- he hit the 1000 mark awhile ago.

It makes me sad that all the CBers scare you guys; I am one of them. I was over there before here... but you all still like me, right?
I could not sit through anything 1000 times, not even Rent. But if I was forced to see one show over and over, it would be Rent. I have never rushed, because I have only seen it twice, the first time was with drama club, second was during my very short NYC trip and I didn't want to waste two hours sitting there and posssibly not even get in.
Please dig up those websites with the stories, I'd love to read them.

I know I said it as a blanket statement, but I didn't mean it that way. Only some people from CBs.com freak me out.
You guys don't.

I still post there...
Jimbo's Life Cafe boards were first... then Cory's Rentheads United board.. and then when Cory 'disappeared' a bunch of us chipped in and put together CompulsiveBowlers.

Posted: 8/8/04 at 8:30pmNo, that's not true. CB was started by a bunch of posters from the old Renthead United Boards. I was one of them.
