It's getting close to April 29th. Is Antonique extending as Mimi. I hope so ifnot who is replacing her? Would the OBC Mimi come back to do it?

Vanessa Williams will be playing Mimi when Antonique leaves. She will be followed by Harvey Fierstein.

Happy now?

Antonique will be taking the Hilton.

There were rumors a while back about Nadia Turner, but I havent heard anything about that recently. I still think its extremely odd that she's leaving in less than a week, and there's still no word. I suppose Karmine will swing for a while but then after that...?

Karmine said last night that if Antonique doesn't extend, which probably won't happen, Mimi will be rotated amongst the understudies, which is Karmine, Moeisha McGill, and T.V. Carpio, until a new Mimi is found.

Why doesn't Karmine just become the regular Mimi?

Because she doesn't want to be. She was the regular Mimi a couple of years ago, and then asked to be a swing so she doesn't have to do 8 shows a week and so she could work on her solo career.

OMG Karmine is way too old - I saw her once last year and it looked so strange. She goes way back with Rent, which is probably why she's still there. I hope that the producers take a chance on a a sweet kid (18-30, total unknown) with enough talent to make her name with this role.

No, Weez, she feels purpleface is the best for this project.

Actually, I think looking 18-19 years old is perfect for Mimi. If anything, someone like Tim Howar at 37 is probably too old for his part; I personally enjoy him as Roger and haven't found his age too distracting, although I might if they were to cast a young Mimi. Karmine is beautiful, but unfortunately Mimi is the character with the smallest about of wiggle room with regards to age. I found it difficult to accept her as Mimi when I last saw her. I saw Karmine in early 2005 and she was FABULOUS. The best Mimi I have ever seen. I didn't notice that she looked older, but I wasn't watching for it.

I think looking 18 and being 18 are two different things, though. It really depends on the actress, but if an 18 year old can handle the part, I think it might be refreshing.

I think I'd rather see Harvey as Maureen where we'd get to admire his bare a*s every night.

actually I think he'd make a good Maureen - remember she has that moon during LVB
