Ok... so the woman who just walked past me HAD to be her sister (or a relative of some sort). She looked EXACTLY like Audra. Staring at Jason Alexander shmoozing, still waiting for word about rush.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

For anyone who wants a "review", here is a little update. First off, she flew in today and was taking a red eye back tonight. I know that's how it goes sometimes but it was still very much appreciated that she made the trip just for this!

I have to admit that most of the songs were new to me so I can't write a list of what she sang by title. However, she told some really cute stories before each song so I can remember some of them that way.

She joked about a song she thought was going to make Bill Cosby cry... but it didn't. And then next time she sang in front of him she fainted so he sent her a big pillow to take on stage with her. Not a new story (according to her) but I was glad to hear it, and the song, for the first time.

She was pretty vocal about her support for marriage equality throughout the concert and sang two songs that spoke to that.

She also sang a song that she sang a lot during the '08 campaign, and mentioned that although Obama has had a rough year she is still hopeful. Then she went on a tangent about how it's the start of Black history month and we should find a Black person to hug haha! ...then she shook her head like "did I really just say that". Yes Audra, yes you did. You had to be there for that one.

She sang a really fast song called Can't stop talking about him(?) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NwLWMc7Oio which OMGosh! Breathe!!!

She sang JRB's Stars and the Moon, and also dedicated another song to the resilience of the Haitian people... something about a person who is desperate for a miracle but she knows that miracles can't be rushed and they come in their own time, and how the one that's coming is meant for all. Forgive me, I wish I knew the title because it's one of those that I should know!

She sang a song Adam Guettel wrote for her that represented the deadly sin of anger that was cute and comedic. I think she said she sang it before at Carnegie Hall?

She sang Ordinary Mothers(?) after talking a little bit about her daughter, and how that song somewhat mirrors their life because she is away so often. She said her daughter tells everyone to stop watching Private Practice so that she can come back home to which the audience awww'd. "But it's ok, because now I can send her to college". And yes, sarcasm, and jokes are really hard to translate over posts but I'm trying!

Hmmm, sorry I'm rambling. I think there is a lot I'm missing but the most exciting thing is that she mentioned she is working on a new album with the theme of "flight" to honor her father that died in a plane crash. I think she sang two songs that are going to be on it.

And it has to be mentioned that she pretty much stopped the show twice, literally... bad note (not that anyone else noticed), forgot lyrics... but we loved her all the more for it! She handled it great, I never knew she was so personable and funny.

Anyway, it's getting late. It's going to hurt to get up early tomorrow but totally worth it!!!

ljay, thanks! :)

Emo - Yes, you should have! Do you know about Maureen McGovern (2/6) and Christine Ebersole (4/24) being at CSUN? Look into it! I love obscure, more intimate settings.
