Madame Armfeldt is low enough to be in her remaining range, and the stage time is practically negligible; one big song in Act One (I think you can speak-sing the "Weekend in the Country" bits just fine) and a handful of dialogue scenes in which to be witty and aristocratic. Feel free not to see any world in which it happens, but it's not like it would be a huge ask, which is probably why Rudin thought of Julie in the first place.
