Yes to a revival of Evita
NO TO MADONNA! Her singing was the worst thing about the movie.
Her interpretation of the music was very blah, very boring.
There is no sparkle to her voice.

Evita is one of my favorite musicals. I say yes to a revival. Enough years have passed!!!!!!!!!! I hope the cast is excellent as well........

Evita was voted the show in most need of revival by British website Whatsonstage.com, so it's a unanimous feeling by all.

Evita is as musically ambitious as it gets, and Lloyd Webber's music has never been so consistantly good. Rice's lyrics are pretty good too.
But Evita has a fundamental, nearly unfixable problem that haunts every production including the film that by and large worked for me.
When the show is over, we don't know anything more about Eva and Juan Peron than we did when the show starts. Nothing has been revealed. It seems to be a pageant, a diorama, and not a story.

Has anyone seen it in Nyack yet? I'm going on Saturday and, as sad as it is, I'm really not that familiar with the show. I'm wondering if this production is up to snuff, so to speak, and if I'll be getting the proper introduction. I've only read the ATC review and it's not exactly glowing. Not that it makes much difference really - I tend to love what most others detest (and vise versa)!

I've heard good things about it. Felicia Finley is AWESOME in the role, I did the show with her in Maine. She was wonderful there, so I'm assuming she does an equally wonderful job in Nyack! My friend's friend's brother (hehe) is in the show in Nyack and my friend told me it's great. I want to see it!
