Revive Evita!!!

I second that....
Maybe since Madona is out of favor in the music world right now (*Her American Life CD was a horrible seller*)
we could talk her into doing it? I mean it is mainly music and she could do it.

or should we get a brilliant unknown and make her a star.

I think Carolee Carmello would be an amazing Eva. She could really hit those notes. Antonio should play Che, like he did in the movie.

Madonnas coming back to Broadway anyway she wants the part in Blue Angel.

I have such good memories of the original. I think they should go with a cast of unknowns. The show doesn't need star power, it just needs vocal power.

Evita's a spectacular show. But I don't think a revival should be hurried at all. If it's to be any good, it has to wait until a director comes along who can do it justice, and a pair of leads who can take the material over the top come to it. A mediocre production of Evita just would not do, and I think it needs a bold reimagining. I'm just not sure who could pull it off.

I don't think we need this show, though it is one of ALW's better efforts. Still, what can you say about a show that starts and finishes at a funeral.

This shows' "dream casting" thread was all over the old Broadway.com board. I said it there, I'll say it here, *if* they bring this show back (and I'm completely sick of revivals),the only people I'd like to see as Evita and Che' are Orfeh and Raul Esparza, respectively.

Personally, I am getting sick of revivals now, and besides, we don't need another revival of a mediocre show, in my humble opinion. That being said, I hope Evita doesn't get revived anytime soon. I mean everything under the sun is being revived now! Enough already!!!

Although I like the show, it's played/playing everywhere!. Why would people get excited about it coming to Broadway?

I've seen so many people do Eva, Che, Perone over the years, some good others not. Different directions, sets. It's getting worn out from use.
IMHO, let the regionals keep ressurecting it and keep it off Broadway. It's just another revival that the casting directors will stunt cast to keep it floating. Because if you don't have a solid , knock-em dead Eva and impressive Che... it fails miserably.
BTW, I've only read one review of Nyack's Evita. TB's Bob Rendell thinks Finley's Eva is weak and Che is too over the top. I can't judge what I've not seen and I can't "Cry for Argentina" anymore for a few years.
Just my view.
