No, I wasn't saying I was there. However, judging from her previous work, I think that he really has not right critcizing her. He says all the time that he's sick of "showtunes" (paraphrasing there, but he said that a lot on Theater Talk last year), but not he's saying her music isn't "showtune"-y enough. What the hell does he want? She's an astute, talented and really great composer.
And I didn't hear the lyrics either, but I wouldn't call Riedel a great expert on lyrics. If a good lyricist said the lyrics weren't up to par, it'd be another story.
B3TA07, I know you want to pounce on me and say "Well don't say he's wrong if you weren't there", but please don't. It's Michael Riedel we're talking about- the man who thought Christina Applegate would win a Tony over Victoria Clark.
