Jennifer Tepper suggested Billy Eichner on social media and I can't get the idea out of my head. He's a genius.
Colbert would of course be wonderful. I'd love to see him and Benanti do it together actually. They have great chemistry. I loved the year Alan Cumming and Kristen Chenoweth did it. Have they been approached?

I think she would be great as well!
Would they ever consider bringing back Rosie to host? I thought she did great all the years she hosted.

Surely the days are over for those big over the top look how fabulous I am opening numbers, the comedic put downs of performers, the childish dressing up and accidental stuff ups.
How about some class, humorous and intelligent show biz information delivered by ???
And please stop the idle non funny banter between 2 presenters before each announcement.
The show is about rewarding performers for their work; there is too much juvenile 'fill in' before the next award.
The songs from the shows nominated and perhaps those that weren't is what this theatre lover would love to see.
But of course none of that would rate well.

I agree that Billy Eichner would be HILARIOUS! Though I'm still hoping in vain that it's Mulaney and Kroll.

When I had asked Rosie about a return to Broadway or the Tony Awards, she said, "Broadway need only ask, and I will be there".... So I don't know why they aren't calling her in. I actually really liked as a host as well.
I love Rosie too. I would like to see her host again. It would be hilarious if she started going after Trump! And isn't Audra in London doing Lady Day? She can't host this year.

That's exactly who I was going to suggest as well. Broadway chops AND recent hit movie. Granted, his two big movies are for Disney / ABC. But he could be entertaining.
Billy Eichner and Rachel Bloom would be a fun team!

Whoopi is ABC, I am not sure but they probably have to remain within the CBS roster or someone not attached to a network for host.
"
Didn't Whoopi join The View in 2007 and then host the 2008 Tony Awards?
You are right!

With 'I Hope I Get It' as the opening number!
I feel like all the obvious choices (like Colbert, who would be amazing) probably have been approached at this point.
I want to throw out another double-host combo: Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles. Both are hilarious, both are in shows right now (neither would probably do it alone of top of 8 shows a week) and both would be good for ratings. Plus they seem to be friends, so I'm sure they could play well off each other.
