I was just rereading some of the posts in this thread and I realize a lot of people don't seem to understand what moving to a new theatre entails. It isn't just the question of moving the set over and changing the marquee. The show has to be completely "redone" to the extent that the stage, wings, and just about everything is completely different in each theatre. Not to mention the pit size, different sound systems/equipiment/arrangement etc.
A show cannot just plop from one theatre to another. It takes time and money which is why few shows in a Broadway theatre transfer to another Broadway theatre. The only shows I can think of that have are Rock of Ages (which is really just waiting until the movie to come out while it earns small potatoes at the Helen Hayes) and Lion King which was such a MEGA hit that it was worth the huge upfront costs when the show was selling out at top tier tickets every week (and still is.) Most shows don't have that luxury - the only other shows that could actually transfer to another theatre without risking huge losses would maybe be Wicked, Book of Mormon, and War Horse.
As much as I hate being the pessimist, I have a really hard time believing Follies is transferring.

Posted: 10/29/11 at 1:23pmHow is it that Riedel is already dissing "Nice Work" and he knows basically nothing about the show? For that matter, he knows basically nothing about theater. He should go work for TMZ which is better suited for his obnoxious style.

First off. Yes, Anything Goes is complete crap. Having hit songs does not constitute a success. At least not an artistic one. Logic like that keeps crap like Mamma Mia running 10 years.
As for Follies, as much as I want this show to keep running, and as badly as Bway needs more legitimate theatre, it has taken a box office dip the last couple weeks. The snow won't help. It might be best to make an exit while it's still on top.

TheHappyPhantom, I'm sure that if Cole Porter were alive, he would think you're complete crap.
