He was selling part of his bike collection plus his Napa Valley house and it appeared he was counting on The Crazy Ones to turn his luck around. He was depressed but this may be what might have made him believe he had no other option.

Adding to all of his problems, his wife now says he had early stage Parkinson's disease. It was also reported his depression may have kicked into high gear after his open heart surgery.
It appears he had one problem piling up after enough and he had just reached his breaking point.

This is getting sadder and sadder. I hope he finally has peace in heaven.

His money problems were not helped by CBS stiffing him with a mere $ 125 K per episode salary.
These days this is really low especially for someone of his stature.

Actually, he was paid $165,000 an episode and only got involved due to David Kelly's involvement in the project. He was fine financially and his depression started way before his surgeries.
You have no idea why someone would choose to end their own life and it's extremely disrespectful to speculate. Gross.
