I'm having problems finding the recent Broadway cast recording of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW LIVE- Does anybody know where I can find it? I heard Alice Ripley is the most perfect Janet and Daphne Rubin Vega is an awesome Magenta- they are two of my favorites. I have recently become a fan of the show and I think the music is a definate stand out. Any help would be wonderful. Oh and I also want to get Taboo, but I cant find that anywhere- suggestions?

I've found that most stores carry TRHS, but if all else fails, try Amazon. As for Taboo, you may have to resort to Amazon, because I highly doubt American stores will carry it.

I saw the show twice and both times found Alice Ripley completely out of place in the show. It just didn't seem to be the right role for her. She didn't seem comfortable doing it, the first time I chalked it up to a sloppy understudy on as Brad that night but the second time was with her standard Brad (Luke Perry, a good month or so into his run and he was fine) but she just didn't seem to have the character down and was cold and stiff.

Ordered!
I actually got it off Amazon.
The problem was before I kept putting in THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW- and that was throwing the search off. So I assumed amazon.com, my usual shopping site for Broadway recordings, didnt have the CD I desired this time. Thank you for correcting my mistake Broadway guy! I also got Taboo off of Amazon.com- I'm assuming the London cast- Is that any different than the Broadway cast? I hope it is still Mr. Bowery as Boy George because his voice is perfect for the part. And just so I could get super savings on shipping, I treated myself to Boy from Oz as well, which I hope to see over spring break. I love Amazon- Buy everything used- Its the same exact thing and much cheaper- quality is good and everything. Woo Hoo! Thanks for the help!

I used to say the same thing, but ever since BG2 told me the right way to say it, I hate when others say it like that, lol. Elphie, how old are you? Do your parents just lend you their credit card??

Haha- No they just dont lend me their credit card. I rarely buy CDs- Like I use to be into all the punk music and stuff freshmen year and even a bit of sophomore year (I still love it, but all those CDs add up to a lot of money), but now if I get CDs, its cast recordings because Broadway is ten times better in my opinion. My dad's credit card number is stored in our Amazon account- so I just tell him what I'm ordering, pay him with my money, and get the CDs myself. Its very beneficial. Thats why I get everything used.

JohnPopa- You've got to be kidding??????? Alice Ripley was an outstanding Janet Weiss. Trust me, she was absolutely adored in this role.

I thought Ripley was terrific as Janet. She was really free and funny and sang the hell out of it. I liked her work in ROCKY so much that seeing her forced work in COMPANY was a major disappointment.

Said Understudy was an embarrassment, the most unprofessional live performance I've ever seen on a Broadway stage. He dropped lines, broke character, tried to break others. It was the sort of thing I'm used to seeing in high school shows. Shameful.

I thought Alice was great. The day I saw it, she really got into the role and had a good time.

Alice was great early on in the run, but tired of the show quickly and that showed in her performance. By the time Luke Perry was in, she had "left" the show long ago.

well JohnPopa,
you must have saw a VERY offday or something because I saw the Brad understudy and he did not do any of the stuff you mentioned at all. Dropped lines, breaking character, and trying to break others?? Is that truely what you saw or was he simply doing as other cast memebers did by responding to audience calls, etc.. which WAS part of the show ya know... and you simply take it as something else because he was an understudy?? In that show, cast members giggling and fooling around a bit were not "unprofessional" or lacklastur or anything you may like to call it.. that is the type of show that Rocky Horror is.

Um, I've done Rocky Horror live for two years and, as I said, saw the show twice on Broadway. I know what Rocky Horror is. Everyone else seemed to be able to do the job. He did not. Others have echoed my sentiment whenever I mentioned it on boards. It was a piss poor job.

No, you implied that I didn't understand what Rocky Horror is like in a live experience. I listed my credits and experiences as a counter to your impication that I didn't understand what the show is. Which I do.

Whatever, indeed. Apparently the young man was much more 'awesome and/or amazing' when you saw him.

I think Alice was an aquired taste. I personally loved her in the role and saw her at least 12 or 13 times. But, some people found that she was too "loud and out of place". I don't know, she did however completely sang the s*it out of that score. There was a lot of drama surrounding the closing of the show.
