iluvtheatretrash - yes, Anita's vocals are quite low throughout. There's just that one note in A Boy Like That, that's on the high-er side for a belt (but very easy to hit in head voice or using a mix).
Yes, Bianca sings "Why Can't You Behave." That's a good song for altos...

Lucy in Jekyll and Hyde is technically an alto part, but doesn't go real low.
Sassypanz, afraid not. Just got off of an ITW as Jack's Mom, and she goes up to a high F#. It's definitely not an alto part.

Now that I think about it, Kim and Domina may not really be altos... stageagent has them listed as such, but I feel like they go higher. Either way, I don't think I'd define them as "low" altos.

I dont think Velma in chicago isnt a low alto. It isnt alto at all. Velma is mezzo.

If you take the JOSEPH... score and sing it in the Laurie Beechman key, it's a nice and easy alto part.

Low, low alto:
Luisa in Nine. Range: Low E flat to high D. (I.e., the D just above the C above middle C) Great role. Played it twice now.
Eva in Evita has to hit low E over and over again...but also has to belt/mix up to high A. (Played that one once...so fun!)
Nancy in Oliver is a great one, too...
And I don't know if you dance (or if it's been said already), but Charity in Sweet Charity is very low, too. (I don't know if they've changed keys for the revivals, but the original is super low.)

Jack's Mother can't be an alto. Watch the original cast DVD. However, if you listen to the revival... she is.
Rapunzel isn't an alto unless you're doing Into the Woods Jr. Although I'm an alto and I've been told I could pull off Rapunzel quite well (only because I have a high pitched blood-curdling scream and I'm blonde. Geez.).
If anyone in Into the Woods is an alto, it's the Baker's Wife. Except in the revival cast recording where everything she sings is an octave higher than what Joanna Gleason sang in the revival.
And yes. I have no life outside of Sondheim shows.
