Roll Out The Pink Carpet

Roll Out The Pink Carpet

Leslie Jordan, the gayest man in America, is to bring his hit show to Londons Apollo Theatre in March for a limited season.

'My Trip Down The Pink Carpet' tells the tale of how Jordan, raised in a conservative family in Chattanooga, Tennessee, boarded a Greyhound bus bound for L.A. with $1,200 sewn into his underpants and never looked back.
His penchant for high camp has given him a varied Hollywood career, however along the he has narrowly avoided temptations such as drug and alcohol dependency ruining it all.

Saw him in NY back in May. Fun, bitchy but sleight show - I'm surprised it's going into the Apollo, I would have expected a more intimate venue as it had in NY (Leicester Square Theatre, maybe).

Looks like fun to me!

Loved him in Will&Grace, he was very funny on Paul O'Grady on Friday-and seems like a nice man too.

If I'm in London when this is on I'll pop along for a bit of camp frivolity!
Maybe I'm on nobody's side http://phdconfessions.blogspot.com/

If he does plenty of media appearances like his very funny turn on the Paul O'Grady show I can see him doing good business - he is only booked in for 4 weeks after all.

"POL 'WORST' -why?"

I have got no opinion on the show, I no nothing about "Roll Out The Pink Carpet", I wasn't going to post anything, but when someone posted "Best" up, I found it too irresistable to post "Worst", in my zany ways.

Good fun! Got a bit slow during the middle but picked up again towards the end. Audience were loving it, very funny, great material.

Worth seeing, but this would have worked so much better at somewhere like the Leicester Square Theatre or the Arts theatre.

I saw the matinee yesterday and loved it. I too think it would have been better somewhere more intimate but loved the way he told his story.

Absolutely hilarious!
I cant remember the last time I laughed so much in such a short length of time!!!
The guy is a human dynamo.
His stories are just hilarious and the one of how he got the part in 'Will & Grace' had me in tears!
I agree he did flag for the middle 10/15 mins but the show has been redeveloped since New York and he is still struggling with it but will be up to speed after a few more performances. Its 10min longer than it was on opening night already.
It is so worth a visit and is so going to be on the TKTS, last nigh the stalls of the Apollo were just over a third full and the rest of the house closed!
Fab set by the way!

GO GO GO!

I think when I saw it only the stalls were open, and definitely not full.
I hope it does OK, it is a great set and a great show all round I think.

I could be tempted to go back and see him. I see a pink outfit on the horizon (left over from Legally Blonde) and some pink fizz in the interval! (Is there an interval?)

I haven't been back to the show yet but I did get to meet and chat with Leslie Jordan today. I was singing as part of the pre-seminar entertainment at the Department for Education's LGBT History Month launch where Mr Jordan was one of the keynote speakers. He really is delightful company and even shorter than I imagined (by my reckoning he's smaller than even Elaine Paige!)

My second gig of the day was at Google's London offices for a pre-Valentine's Day party - they'll organise a party for any occasion!
