I watched the NY1 Tony Awards red carpet last night and could not believe my ears when Roma Torre was taking to Idina Menzel about the fact that Idina is not a dancer and Roma then mentioned that Ginger Rogers danced with Fred Astaire although she was not a dancer.
Not only was Ginger Rogers a dancer, she did everything Fred Astaire did, except backwards and in heels (as they always say)!
Did I mishear what Roma said (or maybe she meant something else?)
I mean this in the nicest possible way, but I have a feeling that Roma - along with the other lady, and ESPECIALLY Patrick - is a moron.
LOL, Weez!
Patrick Pacheco called Bradley Whitford "Bradford Whitley" and then said to him that this is the first time Bradley has ever been on Broadway. Bradley then corrected him and said that he was actually also previously in "A Few Good Men" on Broadway...how embarrassing!
I found her comment about Rogers outrageous too. All the room was abuzz as to how ridiculous that made Ms. Torre sound.

NY1 is the fraternity for mediocre broadcast journalists. I suspect that the majority of them bribed their way into their jobs because none of them have any on-screen personality.
Why they let Roma touch the theater scene is baffling. Since Sharon Dizenhuz left, NY1 has not had anyone doing the theater segments that even seemed interested in theater.
Seems like any idiot can be handed a microphone these days.
Is Patrick the other guy NY1 had on the red carpet?
My roommates and I were laughing at how starstruck he got while talking to Laura Linney. She seemed frightened of him.
I also believe he said that Thurgood Marshall was the "first Supreme Court Justice of the Supreme Court."

They didn't have George Whipple out there did they? He's enough to scare anyone.
I don't think they had George Whipple. Only Roma Torre, Patrick Pacheco and Donna Karger.
I am sure they all have a lot of knowledge about Broadway, but it just doesn't always show. Maybe they were nervous?
The NY1 crew obviously didn't come prepared. I love watching them on On Stage, but last night was no good. They were probably also nervous. They'll do better next year.
Patrick Pacheco said Happy Fathers Day to Laurence Fishburne 3 times.
Those three are out there every year, and every year its awkward and embarrassing. Last year, when interviewing John Mahoney, Donna Karger congratulated him on being nominated.
And going back to this year, how many times were they going to mention to Raul Esparza that he lost when everyone expected him to win?

All of my friends tune into NY1's red carpet coverage SPECIFICALLY to see how bad Roma, Donna, and Patrick will be. And as we hoped, they didn't disappoint.
Come on! .... this is New York. Can't NY1 find anyone better than these three?

Patrick always does his theater reviews with his nose in the air as if he's looking down on the peasants who can't afford theater. Either that or everytime Roma's introduces him, she rips off a fart.
