I watched Rosie sometimes before I was a Broadway fan (I was also like 8 years old or so), and I remember her playing a game with members of the audience and one guy that got to play was a big character that ended up singing for some reason and she gave him all the prizes...a few weeks later, he came on the show as a guest because he was starring in the Full Monty...I assumed he has been discovered on Rosie? Anyone else remember that? Please correct anything I've said wrong..

I have her entire final three shows, Producers with Brad Oscar and (the other guy), and a couple other episodes.

I REALLY would love to have the first Linda Eder performance. Rosie had been raving about seeing a concert she performed at, and she said she would be on the show later in the week. I had been looking forward to it, so I taped it.

WOW! She WOWed me! She sang "Vienna" and stole my heart. I went out to buy her CD the next week. That performance was just incredible, one of the better and most meaningful moments on the show, for me.

The Rosie O Donnell Show was something very unique. Nothing has ever come to par, not Caroline Rhea nor Ellen (though they are nice, just not what Rosie had). What Rosie was interested in, you were. What she did for Superkids, Breast Cancer Awareness, Broadway, home businesses, Makeovers, New York, and artists was truely exceptional.

In her final episode, she GAVE AWAY two of her Emmy Awards to two of her staff. In her six years, she has given soo much to many charities.

I wish she would come back. Maybe with the failure of her magazine and TABOO, she will make a comeback? She is missed...

yes i think linda wowed us all! i remember seeing linda's pbs special concert and hearing vienna for the first time. wow. i'm sooooo glad i recorded it. it was only aired once or sold that day to bidders who put up more than 200.00 dollars. but as far as i know, it's never been aired or sold. re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re:

Thank you, Capn Hook, for your wonderful archival info, and paean to Rosie's show. I loved it, too. There's been so much Rosie bashing, here and elsewhere, during the TABOO era. Yet her show was a bright spot for so many years. She was a tireless supporter of Broadway, an impassioned gun-control advocate, and in the weeks after 9-11, for many NYers like me, sort of a daily divining rod for pain, grief, rage and many feelings we couldn't sort out or articulate. I remember when she flew to Miami only a couple of weeks later, when many people were not flying. She took her kids, and photographed them on the plane. It seems silly, now, but it had a heroic, very patriotic weight. "Patriotic" isn't a word many would use with Rosie, but her stance and demeanor and support in that crisis period made her a true patriot. Remember the first show after 9/11? She had Mario Cantone come on and do Hepburn and Liza, to make us laugh. And it worked. There are many shows that struck chords, but Broadway never forget the way she saved TITANIC. I still have her SIDE SHOW number performance episode, and her last show. People bitched when she made the show a venue for her opinions. But again, her passion is what makes her a true, iconoclasitic American. She put 30 some kids through college, with Kellog's backing. (Remember the girl who came from abject poverty who wanted to be Barbara Walters? Rosie had Walters appear and meet her.) Okay, so she was at least as difficult as Donald Trump. We think he's cool for being an a---hole who taunts yuppie wannabes for sport and profit. I'll take Rosie's approach, and still hold those years she was on in my heart.

That's another part I loved about her. She wasn't afraid to speak out about her opinions on issues, and as a part of her show, she talked about current events, such as Janet Reno and the issue with Julian. And adoption. I remember about when she talked about a woman who threw her kid in a dumpter. Rosie informed us of a new law saying you could just "drop off" your baby at a hospital, no questions asked.

Another great memory was when she got to interview Barbra Streisand for the first time. She turned her stage pink with roses and cried her eyes out.

Oh yes, I also loved her obsession with TV shows, such as Millionaire and Survivor. I especially loved when she took the show to Disney World.

So many great memories I keep thinking of. OH HOW I MISS THIS WOMAN! Rosie.com is coming soon, her first personal Site not about the show, her magazine, nor Taboo.

Rentaholic, I know what you're talking about. The guy's name was Jimmy Smagoola, and he sang "People" in the game. Besides the Full Monty, he was also in Man of La Mancha last year, and he now plays Piangi on the national tour of the Phantom of the Opera.

I know its easy to yell at & yell about ROSIE. I am kinda in the middle about her. I knew people who worked for her were poorly treated, which bothers me. I knew on the other hand about all her Charity Work, which is always a good thing

Above all else...she SUPPORTED BROADWAY

No one can take that away from her

And while I DO thank her (over & for ETERNITY) for bringing us TABOO, she also made a million AWFUL steps while doing so. The promotion of it was a disaster, the slow-to-record the Cast Record (which woulda spread the word) was poorly handled, the Ad Campaign was a mess, the fact she offered no discounts VERY early on did not help.

She was a First Time Producer, & evidently took no tips from anyone.

ALL THAT SAID....I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE CAST RECORDING TO (finally) be released

And to add to the topic, it would be GREAT if all the Theater on the ROSIE SHOW would be put out on a DVD or Two

THATS A GREAT IDEA

Above all else, I LOVED it when the Theater was Showcased on her Show

What other talk show has given more publicity to Broadway.???

One has to look back to The Mike Douglas Show to see anything comparable.

..and yet for every good deed Rosie did where Broadway was concerned there was some Broadway "movers and shakers" (as if there is such a thing) who felt the need to crap on every thing Rosie did ! Anyone remember the Rosie Tony Awards nonsense....

Idiots!

As Joni Mitchell sang "..you don't know what you got till it's gone!"

I loved the Rosie Show. I never missed watching it once in six years. Her show ended right as I graduated HS so I never got to see it livere: Look at that list! Back then it was my only connection to NYC and Broadway. They really should come out with a DVD set, I would buy it for sure. I finally got to meet Rosie last summer and I was shocked. She looked like hell that day and seemed like a completly different person- but I still love her:)

Just an FYI about releasing those musical performances on tape.

Just because a tv show is allowed to broadcast a live performance from a musical doesn't mean they have the same rights to exploit that material in videogram format. Those are separate rights that must be negotiated at the time of the deal.

Oh man I completely forgot how many amazing performances were done on that show. I would buy those DVD's in a second jut to have all that! It would make for an incredible collection of performances and they'd be on DVD...not my usual piles of crappy tapes with tons of random stuff on them.

Oh man.... didn't she have the OBC of RENT on the show? I'd buy these just to see that! Wicked_Elphie, what do you say we combine funds and become hermits watching these? (Because God knows neither of us can afford it!)

Right, I remember now!!! We need to get back on track with Adam, being that he starts in AIDA soon and all. It would be pretty blasphemous of us not to care! And oh yes, that's going to be fabulous. No money AND living in Manhattan? Wonderous.
