re: Rosie and BARE

While the ATA cast was brilliant that doesn't mean it couldn't be done without them. Personally I can't visualize anyone but Michael Arden as Peter but there are brilliant performers out there that I am sure could do the show justice.

re: Rosie and BARE

Do you people actually think that Rosie isn't aware of the finacial concerns of this show? If the woman wanted to produce it, she would have produced it.

Save the energy, people.

re: Rosie and BARE

Bare was a HUGE hit in Los Angeles before New York even heard of it, with a completely different cast except for Jenna Leigh Green. The show can stand on its own, and would be a star making vehicle for any young performer fortunate enough to be cast in it.

re: Rosie and BARE

I NEED Bare to be produced. I am hyperventilating thinking about it...it is amazingly awesome. I'm so sad it isn't on Broadway, because it is so AMAZING!

re: Rosie and BARE

it is truely amazing, the show was brilliant, and the story is sad...There is no way a show this good is going to die...it will be brought back eventually.

re: Rosie and BARE

I don't know why, but I never got into Bare. Heard about it when it was in L.A., but I think the reviews comparing it to RENT really turned me off! ("Bare does what RENT failed to Do" blah blah) and I remember hating a song called "Plain Jane Fat-Ass" but kind of liking "A Quiet Night At Home" and my interest wasn't high enough to follow the show further. I had no idea about the fan base and how this project just can't get off the ground. Very interesting situation...

re: Rosie and BARE

It is an amazing show that shouldn't be compared to rent...it has nothing to do with rent...the reason it gets compared to rent is bcz it is sad, and it is all music...people are just stupid and they think that rent is the only thing that it could be compared to.

re: Rosie and BARE

I thought Assasins never played on Broadway either, yet it was still considered a revival? maybe i'm wrong, but i thought that's what happened. So why would Bare be different?
#35

re: Rosie and BARE

ASSASSINS was a special case (one that required the deliberation of the Tony nominating committee). Although it never premiered on Broadway until 2004, by that time it had already played in regional theatres around the world. It was well-known and oft-performed, so the committee considered it a "classic."

By contrast, FALSETTOS (being made up of MARCH OF THE FALSETTOS and FALSETTOLAND) was still considered for the Best New Musical (and Best Score, etc.) Tony, even though MARCH OF THE FALSETTOS had opened over ten years prior, because the piece had only been performed in a tiny handful of theatres in the country and was not yet a "classic" (this is a bit anachronistic of me to say, because the committee's deliberation on this subject only began last year).

re: Rosie and BARE

I love the idea of being able to see Bare, but I don't think Rosie should put her money into it. She's been burned. Not just with Taboo, but also with The Normal Heart. I can't imagine how hard it must be for her. Everyone is constantly wanting something from her.

I'd be all for a letter campaign for BARE, and I don't like letter campaigns for anything.

re: Rosie and BARE

I want it...so I can edit it and write my own. I'm too lazy to write my own letter but I definitely want to send one! So I figured this was easier. re: Rosie and BARE

re: Rosie and BARE

write a short synopsis of the show and explain to her why you think it should come back...say something that she will feel is useful for giving money
i.e.
This show made it easier for a lot of gay kids come out to their parents and their parents accepted them because they saw the show and it made gay people seem like normal people, and if this message could get out to everyone, it may very well be the end of prejudice of gays.
