Rue McClanahan also played Caroline on the soap opera ANOTHER WORLD. Years before she was instrumental in getting Bea Arthur to join her on THE GOLDEN GIRLS, Rue played Ms. Arthur's best friend Vivian, on the tv series MAUDE.

Rue actually did play Miss Hannigan (in Annie) in a regional production that played The Muny, St. Louis and Starlight Theatre, Kansas City.

She was brilliant.... sang it well and got amazing laughs. I saw the show like 6 times because my sisters were in the show! She really was perfect.

It would be so amazing!!!! I'td be my third time seeing wicked...I hate morrible's character though...o well....I'd get over it! I love the golden girls! do you think morrible could be played with a southern accent? just kidding lol

Maude was on in the 1970s, Golden Girls came later.

MAUDE was a spinoff from ALL IN THE FAMILY and premiered in the 1970s.........THE GOLDEN GIRLS began in the mid to late 1980s. :)
