Would Spring Awakening be an OK show for my nine year old sister?
I know they say 13 and older but she's seen RENT and my parents were ok with her seeing it.
So I guess the real question is what's is that besides Language that makes this show 13 and up?
Is there any nudity or sexual scene's where you see anything?
Thanks
Uh...
A 9 year old should NOT see Spring Awakening.

I'm trying to remember...I don't recall anything like partial nudity or sex acts played out on stage or abortions or child abuse or masturbation or anything like that, so she should be fine.
I don't know if you would want to take a 9-year-old to the show. There's a simulated sex scene, simulated masturbation, and partial nudity...I saw Rent when I was pretty young, but I don't think I could've handled Spring Awakening at the same age.

No! I'm pretty open when it comes to taking kids to more mature pieces of theatre. I saw adult things when I was young. Spring Awakening however is not for a 9 year old.
I don't think I've ever be disturbed by someone simply asking a question here, but this one makes me shudder.
Can you imagine sitting NEXT to a nine year old during Spring Awakening?
I reacted to this about the same way I did when I saw the Heather Parcells video on Broadway.com, in which the mother carrying her baby in her arms says that Spring Awakening was "their favorite"...
It's great that you're trying to get your sister to see some sophisticated theatre, but NO. It will mean more to her when she's older anyway...

No!
There is a topless girl, a boy with his bare butt exposed, plenty of sexual content and the whole plot is really about sexaul awakenings.
When I first looked at the topic, I thought you were going to ask if the show itself is nine years old. I didn't think you'd ask if it would be ok for a nine year old to watch because I thought you'd know by now.
TapTapTapioca, you just made that whole scene sound distasteful.

It would be quite irresponsible to take a nine year old to that show.
Didn't look very tasty to me, Becoz_i_knew_you21.

No No a THOUSAND Times NO! There are images no 9-year-old needs to have in their head, and SA has several of them. Let's not overlook the suicide, either.

Is there any nudity? Do you know anything about the show? Learn more about the show, and DON'T take her.

CLASSIC! HA!
Agreed, not for a 9 year old...

Porn is such a ridiculous overstatement.
Spring Awakening is the equivalent of a solidly R rated film. I would advise against it, obviously, but if this 9 year old has seen a ton of R rated movies with similar scenes then it won't further warp her or anything.
I think MOVIE and LIVE THEATER are two completely different situations.
Definitely no. I agree that a nine year old does not need these images in her head. SOOO many other things on Broadway that she could see.

The answer is definitely no. No question. It's is very inappropriate for a 9 year old.
