It seems to me that the Spring Awakening CD was made in a hurry. Considering most of the harmony's in the group songs are different in the actual show.
SA's cd was made before the show opened on Broadway. Many of the CD's harmonies and lyrics were how the show started off during previews.
Exactly. It's a bummber because the recording doesn't do ANY of their voices justice.
I did not know that
The Spring Awakening cast album is very poorly produced. I don't like the score at all so it would never be one of my favorite albums to begin with, but I did find the cast rather good and it doesn't do their voices justice at all. Oh well. It'll wind up winning the Grammy anyway.
If you have an early hard-copy of the CD, there is also a misprint in regards to the cast list.
uhh how could the producers make a mistake with the cast..it really isn't all that big

Tom Deckman did an early reading. I don't know how they didn't catch something like this, however.
Yes it is JBW actually singing Hanschen.
Gideon Glick was the original Ernst left in Sept of 07 for school at NYU and picked up to do "little" Speech & Debate (which is kind of ironic since that has now been extended 2x)
AND two songs are reversed in Act II. (That drove me nuts for a while.)
And really: how do the producers (or whomever is responsible) NOT catch the JBW thing?
I do not know how many cd's were manufactured w/wrong info. I got my cd about 6 months after its release and the cast's names are all listed correctly.
Another agreement: the cd does NOT give credit to the music of the show. I really miss Ilse's intro to Purple Summer.

Yes, The Guilty Ones and Don't Do Sadness are in the wrong order on the CD as well.
I feel like the cast recording was VERY rushed. Hell, I think it was released either a few days before or a few days after the show opened on Broadway. I suppose they figured people would be pissed if they couldn't get the cast recording right away.
Anyway, I guess I got my CD from the first release, because Wright isn't credited on my insert.
It was never caught. I had the mp3 files for a while, and bought the CD months after it was released, and it still says Deckman.
As for the songs being out of order, I forget who, but someone said it flowed better in the order that is on the CD.
Not to mention the cd booklet contains a cast picture...with Mary McCann (Adult Women) and Frank Wood (Adult Men) from the Atlantic Theatre off-Broadway cast.
I've heard from a lot of people that the CD is better than the actual show, not the reverse. I agree.
i think the show itself is WAY better than the cd, although I do like the cd as well. The biggest difference that really bothers me on the cd though is that it doesn't do lea michele enough justice vocally. her voice sounds a lot weaker but when you see the show she has much more power and her songs are even better (namely whispering and those you've known)
HA! I've never noticed that before... how strange, not to mention irresponsible on the part of the album's producer wfor not giving JBW credit...
