sorry to start another thread like this, but...
I'm going to Ny this weekend, can only see 1 show (sad, right?) my brother and I cannot agree on what to see help, please? we've narrowed it down to four...
Oh god, none of the above. 4 of my least favorite show in the city right now. But, if I absolutely had to pick, I would say Avenue Q over Curtains, and Spring Awakening over Drowsy (just because it's new and Drowsy feels very tired right now, and no other reason).

Spring Awakening without a doubt.
Normally I would say Drowsy, but I was lucky and saw it with most of the oringal cast so of course it was amazing. But to be honest, a lot of the replacments scare me. I think Mara Davi is the only good replacement thus far. (But then again I didn't actually see any of the replacements, I'm just judging by the pictures and videos I saw. But it sounds like they are about as bad as I think they are.)
That said, I would say hold off on Drowsy for now. It just has to get better soon, right?
I have not seen Ave Q or SA, but I did just see Curtains. I just loved Curtains. It's such a fun cast, a fun show. I mean they have a lot of big names in it, and they all blew me away! David Hyde Pierce is amazing, like I thought he would be. The dancing was mind blowing to me. I just loved Megan Sikora's big Indian number and David and Jill Paice's big number "A Tough Act to Follow". I personally loved Curtains. It was a great night at the theatre for me.
But, that's just my two cents.

SA.....nothing else needs to be said.
In order: Curtains over Drowsy over Q over Spring.

I can narrow it down to two--SA and Q.

1) Curtains
2) Spring Awakening
3) Drowsy
Haven't seen Q.
I've seen all four. Spring Awakening and Avenue Q are the only ones that I had any interest in seeing more than once (and I have seen more than once), Drowsy and Curtains were only just 'eh, ok' to me- and I saw Curtains on a comp even, and couldn't be bothered to pay to see it again.
Either Spring or Q, can't narrow it down between those two.
spring awakening 100%

Avenue Q~ no two ways about it!
Depends what you like. If you are up for frat boy type humor through the lens of Generation X then I would shuffle over to see Q. If you are looking for more rocking tunes with teen angst mixed in then Spring Awakening. If looking for traditional Broadway fair in both tunes and feel then Drowsy or Curtains.
I have seen all 4 and my current fav of the group is Avenue Q because it made me laugh and it had some really witty songs, not typical Broadway though. I am a little more open minded then some on this board so I would be happy to see any of them at this point.

I've never seen Drowsy of Curtains, so I can't vouch for them. While I really loved Avenue Q, if you know the cast recording backwards and forwards, it's not as funny. A lot of the jokes in the show were already in the songs. Spring Awakening is a great show and the cast is so full of energy, so that's what I recommend.
Wow, those are four VERY different shows... However, I think you and your brother would probably enjoy Q or SA (because most guys like them better.)
I would highly recommend Curtains - admittedly I should disqualify myself because I'm a KandernEbb/Curtains shill.
Given that, of the other three shows my choice would be Ave.Q. I didn't like Spring Awakening and I saw Drowsy a couple weeks ago and it was awful. There didn't seem to be any chemistry between any of the actors on stage. But Q was a lot of fun.
Whatever you choose have a great time!

I'd go with Avenue Q, definitely.

Curtains.

If you love dirty puppet humor...Ave Q all the way. I was literally in tears the entire time. If you're in the mood for a great, but depressing show, Spring Awakening. That's my opinion...but I haven't seen Curtains or Drowsy.

Well, which do you want?
A die-hard comedy show? That's Q. A classic splashy Broadway show? Curtains. A half-and-half of those two? Drowsy. And a complete dramafest that'll give you chills? Spring.
If you don't know too much about musical theatre, eliminate Drowsy. And if you don't want something too racy, eliminate Q (and Spring, for that matter). Go with Curtains.
I'd go for SPRING AWAKENING....
1. It's new, relatively original cast and young and would be cool to see with a like-aged brother
2. DROWSY and AVENUE Q are beginning national tours in America, so the likelihood of the production swinging by your region might be positive
I actually think that Curtains is funnier than Avenue Q. I would say Spring Awakening over Curtains over Avenue Q over Drowsy.
