SAVED photos
re: SAVED photos#25
Posted: 5/27/08 at 6:23pmI need to get back and see this again (last time I saw it was first preview). Seems they've changed Hillary Faye's entire wardrobe a bit, and given Mary Faber a wig (she chopped off her hair about a month or so ago!)...looks good to me.

Why are they doing the show on the Beehive set?
What a great cast, is there any nudity in this show?

Posted: 5/27/08 at 7:17pmYou do realize this is theatre, and theatre have cast people in their late 20s as teenagers for decades right though to today so i don't really see why this is a big deal to everyone

Posted: 5/27/08 at 7:53pmThe "big deal" is not because Celia is older than her character but that her mother looks her contemporary. Typically the mothers are not younger parents like the mother in the movie. If someone like Faith Prince was playing Celia's mother, I don't think there would be quite as much complaining. Julia is about the same age as Mary Louise Parker in the movie, but Jena Malone looked her character's age.

Actually, (not that it really matters) Keenan-Bolger is 30-per her myspace account...

"None of them looked like they were in Middle School. The audience had to use their imagination."
The adults acting as kids worked for Spelling Bee, because as someone said, it added to the show's charm. It made it more humorous, in my opinion, than watching middle-school aged children play those parts.

Posted: 5/27/08 at 10:59pmNew costumes for Mary Faber! It looks like they're trying to make her look more like she's a teenager - her old costumes made her look kind of like a soccer mom.

The designs in general are pretty boring.
Also, is it just me, or does Mary Faber look a lot like Kerry Butler?

Posted: 5/27/08 at 11:35pmI HAVE to see this! Julia Murney makes me happy. Is it pretty easy to get student tickets for this show, or are people waiting in line like crazy?

Posted: 5/27/08 at 11:54pmI'm thinking it's slowly becoming "not a hot ticket."
