BREAKING NEWS!!! Sebastian Arcelus, who replaced Justin Guarini in GOOD VIBRATIONS, is like his cast mate Chad Kimball jumping ship to star in another Broadway bound musical. Sebastian will also be leaving after the opening and going to San Francisco for the pre-Broadway run of the new musical by Tony Award Winner Michael Rupert titled STREETS OF AMERICA. I really have no idea when. I didn't even think to ask. But, I assume he will do what Chad Kimball is going to do with LENNON and just leave soon after the opening.

Perhaps. I'd assume he wouldn't want to break contract, so if this is a new development, he probably has a few more weeks there. Interesante.

Matthew Riopelle is also Michael's Rupert's boyfriend. I talked to him last week after he got back from spending a very romantic weekend with Michael in Florida. He told me they are currently doing the finishing touches on STREETS OF AMERICA for it's San Francisco run and also prepping another musical for off-Broadway titled RANCHO CUCAMONGA. As for Sebastian, he sings on the demo for STREETS OF AMERICA and is amazing! I personally can't wait to see him in the show!

I hope he finds something that shows him off more, or he can use his FULL talents for -- I think he's fine in Good Vibrations (and I'm one of the few people who actually likes the show), but I feel like he's in it because he just screams "I AM THE CALIFORNIA SURFER BOY STEREOTYPE".

razz, Sebastian the California surfer boy stereotype? You're kidding right? If you've ever spoken to Sebastian, you'd know that isn't the case at all. I don't think too many California surfer boys are Williams graduates.

Sadly, I think this is one of the those posts where I think the facts are not entirely accurate. I don't think Sebastian is leaving GOOD VIBRATIONS to do STREETS OF AMERICA in San Francisco, because at this moment a San Francisco production does not exist. While there has been some interest to do a workshop of the work there, nothing has been set in stone. Michael is currently rewriting the script, so it could even be a while before a workshop even happens. Sebastian does in fact sing the lead on the demo recording and I know Michael would love to have him in a production, but to date nothing has been scheduled.

erin - no, i was not saying that Sebastian himself was the california surfer boy stereotype, but his character in the show seems to be the only one that has been built up to be HUGELY representative of the stereotype. and that makes me want to gag.

im sure sebastian is a wonderful person.

Seb's a wonderful person. I don't know if that's true about him leaving or not, but whatever he does I wish him the best of luck. And as for the surfer thing...besides the hair I don't really see him as a 'surfer.' I was sort of amused when I heard he was playing a 'surfer dude.'

And Matthew's brother Peter is also an actor and appears as the man from various generations in a new music video by some group called (I think) T'mousse. The song (I think) is "Because I'm Cool"..a good song.

Hope someone knows what I'm talking about.

If he's leaving, he knows what's good for him. Why would anyone stick around in that show? I would want to hang myself if I was in GOOD VIBRATIONS.
