The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Post Street Theatre

Performances began Feb.14

Any one going? My tickets are this Sunday, Feb.19 at 7pm.
Can't wait!

Probably not until late March, unfortunately. I would definitely watch a regular performance than a preview, and late March is the earliest time that our entire family can go at once.

I saw it tonight.
Absolutely 110% the most hilarious and uproariously fun night in the professional theatre I've ever been to. SUPERB! I'm going again and again. The SF run is open-ended, as long as SF will have them. So go, and go, and bring your friends! It's AMAZING! PERFECT! I'll make a huge review/summary later.
SO GOOD!

Hi Eugene, did you meet any actors at the stagedoor? Where is the stagedoor anyway at the Post Street Theatre? Did you get a rush tix? How early did you stand in line?

I'm so happy to know this is an open ended run. I can bring my friends to experience the Bee.

I went and saw it on Sunday at 7:00. Was that the show that you were at EugLoven?

Yes, OverTheMoon, I was at the Sunday 7pm show.
Wasn't Mr.Riddle abso-f*cka-lutely amazing?!?!?
The cast, afterward, said there couldn't have been a BETTER show to have gone to. That was their best night thus-far and frankly, that's going to be hard to beat... my god how HILARIOUS was that?

Lite2Shine, yes I talked to the entire cast after the show. All are friendly, young, delightful, humble people. There is no "stage door" because the Post Street Theatre is actually located on the 2nd floor of a hotel. Therefore, after the show, people either wait in the 2nd floor lobby (small area by the staircase outside the theatre lobby) or go downstairs to the hotel lobby.

Nope. Just box office or telephone sales of $45-55 depending on your night. I'd love the idea of lottery or student discount, but the Post Street Theatre needs to make their money somehow, so don't have deals.

I'm not positive, but TIX (at Union Square) sells tons of half-price or discount tickets for SF theater... I don't know if they're featuring "Spelling Bee" deals though.

If you go to the Post Street Theatre Website it does list that there are $25 tickets available. I don't know if it's a lottery or standing in line. Just call the box office if you want more information.

Also, according to today's email from Theatre Bay Area, the tickets booth will have half-price to the show, but who knows which dates/times that will be. Keep checking their website because you never know.

I saw it this past Sunday and it was amazing. I got to meet all the male cast memmbers afterwards, and they were all really nice. I can't wait to go again.

Does anyone know if they're planning to have any "adult-only" performances in SF? I saw the show for the first time today and absolutely adored it.

I spoke to the cast after the show last Sunday and they said an Adult Show is "in the works" and a possibility. Probably after April.

On that lotto stuff: They sell rush tickets two hours prior to every performance for $25 (I've already done it twice). It's first come, first serve too - not lotto. Hope that helps.

Yes, Mr. Riddle was hilarious!! I loved it when he started to spell a word, and then someone in the audience went "Yes!" and then Mr. Panch was like, "Be quiet Mrs. Riddle!"

Saw it again last night, did the $25 rush seats. No line, in fact it seemed only a few of them were sold, although the orchestra section itself was pretty full for a Wednesday night. The show itself was even better than the preview I saw last month.

The guest spellers were fine, but obviously no Mr Riddle! The last woman out did spell the first word correctly when she was supposed to be eliminated, and Rona looked over at the Vice Principal with a "here we go again" type look. But she did misspell the next word with Mitch standing behind her with his arms crossed.

The audience gave a partial standing O, which for an SF audience consisting of a lot of seniors on a Wednesday night, is a pretty darn good reaction.

This show seems to have really found it's stride. LOVE IT!

I have seen Spelling Bee twice and it is one of the BEST shows I have ever seen. I can not wait for the ADULT ONLY night. Anyway, there are RUSH TICKETS, two hours before show time, since it is no longer advertised on their website(it was at one time), not many people know about it and so there is never really a line. I have gotten them three times and plan to go see the show again on Sunday.

Also, I heard that at least one person for the audience gets the word right many times. That is the joke, they give the person the right word so they can set up the joke to get that person off. It was done at every performane I went too and I had a lot of friends who saw it and said the same thing, so I assume by now, that, that part is scripted!

EVERYONE GO SEE ITTTT...it is amazing!!!!

Adult night is going to be awesome. And I think they should have gay night like the NYC cast just did. That would be great.
