BwayTheatre11- why in the world would I pay money to see a show that was absolute overrated garbage again? While I speak of my dislike of Marissa as a performer that is far from the only reason that I disliked the show. It is boring, campy, blinding, contrived, and simply put stupid.
MisterMatt- The sad part is that it actually had to come to this. The American Heritage dictionary defines talent as 1. A marked innate ability, as for artistic accomplishment. 2a. Natural endowment or ability of a superior quality. b. A person or group of people having such ability
In my opinion MARISSA JARET WINOKUR falls under none of these definitions. It's simply a matter of taste. I like musical theater performers who can sing and act over musical theater performers who can't do either. Am I wrong in expecting this of people I pay $100 to see?
PodiumPerson-As for your sly remarks about Carnegie Mellon's musical theater program I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to accomplish by bashing the performers. Being as I am not in the program and have no desire to be a performer what you have to say is really irrelevant and not becoming of your happy go lucky nature...now come on and give us a list of 10 good things you have to say.
BroadwayGuy2- as for your comment that I "have often cited Hairspray as evidence of Mitchell's "lack of talent"...as though he were unable to come up with something more complex" it is VERY true. And until I see something he choreographs that is worthwhile I will continue to do so. I began to ridicule his choreography when people on boards like this actually tried to compare his choreography to Twyla Tharp's in Movin Out which is simply ridiculous. I have yet to see the man choreograph something that puts him in a place of being called one of Broadway's great choreographers, which many hear have said. What has he done?...even his choreography for Never Gonna Dance (a dance show) was lame. Not even comparable to the beautifully danced and choreographed sequences in the Fred & Ginger movies. I have commented in the past on his remarks that he wanted to make the choreography simple for a reason. But the plain fact is that the man is not so much a bad choreographer as much as he is overrated.

Well I won't take up too much more of your time. For all you MARISSA JARET WINOKUR lovers I hope you enjoy your taped copies of "Big Girl" or whatever it was called- it certainly was memorable.
