Hey All -

For any and all who've attended previous preview performances of SHREK, I'm wondering if you guys could help me out. I'm curious as to how exactly the stage is set-up for this mounting - I know the Broadway Theatre has a tendency to 'switch things up' for shows (as noted previously). What are the sightlines from center orchestra. I know that the lotto seats are "horrendous" according to some. I believe I have Row B (Center Orchestra) for this coming January. Did I totally screw myself over? Any and all insight appreciated.

As a quick note: What changes have been made to the show as of late. I know that they reworked the opening to Act Ii and they put in a new finale, though, I have NO IDEA what it looks/sounds like. So, anyone care to share, the floor's yours!

Thanks!

Best,
- Mike SHREK Sightlines

You will be CLOSE. But hey, you always want to be as close as possible it seems, so you should be fine for you. :) Seriously, I really do think the front few rows in the orchestra (center or not) are really close. I don't mind the lottery seats (well, I don't mind B-2) for what they are, but personally I think the front mezz is probably the ideal location to see this one from. I have seen people in the first few rows in the center section straining up to see as much as people on the sides.

Can't comment on the changes as I believe those have just happened and I haven't seen it since 11/18.

So is the stage high? Or are you just really close?

The center isn't too high, but the sides each go up about a foot or so making it impossible to see a huge portion of the stage from the first couple of rows on the side. It was the first show I've ever moved BACK when the lights went down. And I had what would have been full price seats in the second row.

Even at the lowest point the stage is at about the top of my head ~ and I'm about 5 7. I end up folding my jacket up and sitting on that. Plus you're really close.

And I checked today (this apparently is my lottery...or days that have 8 in them are lucky for me) ~ the front row all the way across is Row B.

So, Center Orchestra's front row is also B?

Yep. I checked at intermission. Three or four rows back I saw people sort of laying back in their seats like if you get stuck in the front row of a movie theater to see.

But the changes they're making (no, nothing to Dragon yet...if that's what the big cancel a performance change is) are good ones. :)

BUMP

Anyone else with insight on sightlines and/or the changes that they're putting into the show, by all means, share the good word with the masses. We'll be very grateful!

Best,
- Mike re: SHREK Sightlines

*spoiler alert*

They've changed the staging of the opening segment ~ and Brian's entrance. (Though I've heard someone say "added it back in" so maybe it was there in Seattle and they were trying ti without it in NYC?)

They've changed the finale ~ and added a new song there.

I'm thinking the changes that they canceled the 12/2 performance to insert may have to do with the Act 2 opening since Sutton mentioned it in the playbill diva talk ~ but it looked an awful lot the same to me on Friday.

They also just have Donkey come running in screaming now ~ none of the flying AND talking.

I just saw the show on the 25th for the first time, and I was trying to stay away from much spoilers before I saw it, so I'm not really sure what was new. But what is the new finale everyone is talking about? I seriously don't remember that much about it, though.

When did they change Morning Person where Sutton rips off her skirt? I really loved that part! And the whole skelenton thing at the end, that was really cool.

I sat in the second row on the left, I thought they were good seats. I really loved sitting that close because Sutton makes the funniest faces in this show!! Esp in I Think I Got Ya Beat!! haha. I was wondering, does Sutton and Brian really burp, or is it pre-recorded? I know the farts are, but I dunno if the burps are. If they are, they are both good at fake burping.

And I liked Fiona's transformation, sitting second row I couldn't figure out how they did it, and I kept me eyes on her the entire time. I think they could do more with that, though. And I really liked how the Dragon 'eats' Lord Farquad, that was a really cool effect.

I think this show is going to be a HUGE hit! re: SHREK Sightlines

The whole "This Is My Story" song is new (at least here). It was ending in another reprise of "Big Bright Beautiful World". They've also added a little into the chaos whe Grumpy comes in.

They haven't changed "Morning Person" yet ~ but there was a diva talk on playbill.com with Sutton where she said that they have done a whole new song for the Act 2 opener. But it's not in yet.

As for the transformation... It's easy. I missed it the first time too, but the second time I figured it out. There is chaos, light shading and set pieces that are screens for a reason... :) Especially at the end... There's a couple of moments in the chaos where Fiona goes to the far side of the back of the stage...FAR SIDE of the BACK of the STAGE... TWICE.

Hey everyone, I'm seeing Shrek next month and I'm probably going to buy tickets in the front row of the rear mezzanine, Row A center. I've heard complaints about the sightlines in the Broadway before, so I figured I'd confirm with you guys that these are good seats before I purchase them. Will they be very far away from the stage? Will I miss the top of the scenery, etc? Thanks!

I was in Row C of the centre orchestra (which is the second row) and I had a great view and could see everything, and I didn't have to lean back or anything and I'm 5'6".
