Love ya, Marc, but all this commercial does for me is reveal how mediocre SJP's singing voice is.

I'm with Jon - I saw it and the words "Marni Nixon" kept running through my head, although it is a great concept and she is adorable in it, it's a fun spot - and of course the arrangement - well, MWAH!

I'm so disappointed, and I normally love SJP. I was looking down at my computer when the commercial aired and I couldn't help wondering "why would they cast this girl to sing??" and then I looked at the TV and it was her! I, too, thought she had a much better voice than this. Oh, well.

As was discussed on another thread, hedwig, SJP has Former-Child-Singer-Who-Can't-Sing-Anymore Syndrome.

Aaaahhhhh, I see. Sounds serious. I guess she'll have to settle for just being "Award Winning Actress". Poor girl.

Okay, so she may not be a *brilliant* vocalist, but am I the only one who really enjoyed her cast recording of Once Upon a Mattress? I thought her voice came off fairly strong on the recording. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'd like to see her back on Broadway. Sweet Charity could've been interesting with her. Not saying that Christina Applegate is bad, but there's no way that SJP isn't at least AS good as her.

You can see the commercial on gap.com It was cute, but I expected more from her vocally. I'll always love her though, I can't help it.

Well, what did you think of my backup vocals?? Or my beats?? I was responsible for the "PHAT beats" as Marc would say. Eh? eh? Anyone? Only reply if you have good things to say... my ego is too fragile.

Revo, the commercial might be better had you sung lead.

Apparently Mr. Tuttle doesn't like it. Can we all spell N-E-R-D?

I liked it, it's not like she was trying to go all out and belt, it was just for fun. I don't know if it's just me, but she looks more attractive than usual in her GAP commercials.

I'm sorry, not to be mean or anything but I'm just over the whole SJP thing. I work at the Gap and it is just getting way to old. They need to get someone new in there. I admit she is cute and can make almost anything look good but its kinda just been SJP overload. Gap definitely needs to get a new face and SJP needs to find life after sex and the city.

I love the commercial. One of the best things about it is the fact that the clothes don't look like they belong on a homeless person or a member of The Partridge Family.
What happened to Marc's comments? I was curious as to what he had to say.

You know, after seeing that commercial, I actually like the song now. I used to seriously despise that song.
Deborah Gibson does a nice job on her version of the song as well, but that's another thing. lol.
TheOneAndOnly, I heard her version of Shy from that recording and was actually pleasantly surprised and her vocal ability.

I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. She's a cutie and anyone who doesn't agree watching this commercial is bitter, or doesn't REALLY like musical theatre.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. She's fabulous. She's got buckets of money, she's a hoot and a half and she's got a killer rack. Nobody else is her and nobody ever will be.
She's the most fabulous woman on earth. Period.
