Hello all! I am on an archival hunt and in need of some assistance.
Hamlisch's musical 'Smile' from the 1975 Michael Ritchie film went through several book writers and one other score before the Broadway version, most notably a 1983 workshop with book by Jack Heifner, lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, and score (version #1) by Hamlisch.
I used to have Hamlisch's demos from this score - it included songs like 'Six O'Clock News', 'Walking in the Sunshine' and the original lyrics for the title song, 'Smile. but my old laptop crashed and my copy of the demo has been lost for good. I am in need of another copy and wondering if anybody might be able to help me out either in terms of sharing their own copy, or pointing me to a place I might look for more information.
Excerpts from this version of the score have been featured professionally on a few albums, like Barbra's 'Encore', but I am after the demo in its entirety.
Thank you very much!

This sounds like a fun little search, but it may be tricky, esp. as a lot of the "historical interest" for Smile is to do with Howard Ashman and the "Disneyland" song he created for the show...
