Also not her Broadway debut, by the way.

Never said it was. Though to get technical, I guess, it was her first real, original (you know what I'm saying) play.
Hot damn! Will someone turn off the geriatricity.
No it wasn't.

I just saw it! As many times as I have heard her sing that song, I still always get a little choked up. I wish I could have seen her in "Dreamgirls" back then.

I noticed that Darlene sang the Christmas song too. It was in the credits, which I had never paid attention to before (after the cartoon), but for some reason, her name caught my eye and I freaked out. It was a song that was like, "Christmas For the Jews" or something.

The Jennifer Holliday episode is on here is GA right now.
It's finally on here.
Saw it and now I am hyped up.
(Love your avatar MrMidwest!)
Did anyone else see it? I was a tad bit underwhelmed.
(Had to fast forward through all the sketches. I had forgotten how bad SNL was back then. And here I had been thinking the more recent shows were bad. SNL in 1982 was dreadfull!)
I saw it, just because I happened to be up. Amazing! I don't think that would happen today for even the biggest breakout performer. A performer doesn't get seen on SNL now unless he/she/they are a big pop success. Too bad!
BSoBW2 - so, you state that the flop CARRIE didn't launch any careers? It's just a footnote for a Betty Buckley and Darlene Love remark?
Well...I'm sure you've heard of some other cast members who were also in CARRIE and who've managed to do a few things here and there since then:
Charlotte d'Amboise
Linzi Hately
Scott Wise
Sally Ann Triplett
Joey McNeely
Mary Ann Lamb
Lillias White
"Charlotte d'Amboise
Linzi Hately
Scott Wise
Sally Ann Triplett
Joey McNeely
Mary Ann Lamb
Lillias White"
Hardly the first show for most of them. Their careers had been launched well before they were cast in SCARRIE.
I enjoyed the performances, even if they were a bit more subdued than usual. I also liked the Andy Kaufman Elvis bit (that chest hair, lol). Plus, I've always thought Joe Piscopo was kinda sexy.

I agree Rath (my love), Jack Black, if they do yet another movie of Scoundrels, should play the role! I thought that the first time I saw the episode.
As for the Jennifer one: what a flashback for me! I'd forgotten that Christine Ebersole was in it. Not that she had much to do.
Jennifer was something else. I mean, they did not know what to do with her. When I saw it at the taping, she was great. But, damn, the camera was not kind. The director must have been going nuts trying to find the best cuts. Unfortunately, she looked like Madden in drag.
