It was a nice evening, not being familiar with Andrea I didn't know what to expect, but she has a lovely, pure tone to her voice that I found really nice to hear.
Thanks for the good work as always!

Posted: 3/14/05 at 11:10amThe only word I can use is INCREDIBLE. Not only is she beyond talented, but she is the nicest most genuine actress out there. She needs to get her butt back on Broadway NOW! I saw that they videotaped it.. please tell me we can have SOMETHING to remember like a cd or video?!?!?

I have to say as well how much I enjoyed the show. Andrea was wonderful, both during the concert and afterwards when she stayed to sign memoribilia for sale (proceeds going to BCEFA).
Her voice was clear and warm. She has a sense of humour about herself that comes through when she sings as well as the chatter between the songs. I believe, if she hadn't endeared herself to the crowd before hand, her slight errors when singing the Sondheim made her a favorite.
I loved her reading of both Annie songs and was not surprised when she closed with Tomorrow. However, I was astounded at her vocal maturity when she sang the Sondheim songs (especially Losing My Mind).
It was a treat to see her on stage and a happy memory for me (both, in the future, and remembering seeing her in Annie when I was all of six or seven).
I hope she records this selection of songs for her next cd, she is truly a Broadway diva.

Posted: 3/14/05 at 1:34pmShe was a delight, in thrilling voice, playful spirit and truly one of the "greats", and a quick BRAVO to Richard Jay Alexander for shaping and guiding the evening. Her "Maybe This Time" was heartbreaking.

Thanks for the summaries, everyone. I'm so bummed that I missed this (I haven't missed an Andrea show in like forever!) but I'm assistant costume designing a show at school and this past weekend was tech weekend. We all know what that is like
. Sounds like an amazing evening. I can't believe she sang "Superstar." That's one of my all-time favorites. Please keep everyone updated on the status of the person who was filming as I need to get my hands on that baby!

Posted: 3/15/05 at 11:21amHer version of "Everybody Says Don't" trumped the Streisand rendition. It was phenomenal. Was deeply moved by her "Beauty and the Beast," and the opening arrangement of "NYC" breathed new life into that chestnut. She also accomplished the seemingly impossible: making me appreciate "Easy to Be Hard," one of my least favorite songs. She's a wonderful person and an endearing personality. Loved that she came on casually dressed: what a surprise and what a wise choice for this very challenging evening. Memorable.
