I still don't get this. Where is the act 1 finale and Ah, But Underneath? They recorded a cut number but not those?

I know! I don't get this at all. Someone needs to enlighten us.

Wopat's "Epiphany" is also missing! Though not many will miss it.
And Mackey's gorgeous "Do I Hear a Waltz?" is gone.

Did they really need to record the "jazz" version of Something's Coming? Especially at the expense of Ah, But Underneath, the act 1 finale, and Do I Hear A Waltz.

They cut three songs, one for each of the three stars.

Ah, But Underneath - Loses its purpose without SEEING Vanessa
In Buddy's Eyes - There are so many recordings of Barbara Cook singing it
Epiphany - I don't know why, and I don't really care.

I can't think of any of these songs that hasn't had a better recording before now - can you? Well, "God," of course, and maybe "The Wedding Is Off," but I can't imagine buying this entire recording for that one new song and that one rarity.

Most disappointing are the bland, tiny orchestrations. And that ridiculous "Something's Coming" arrangement...

Dsiggy, I happen to have seen the show, and the orchestrations, like all Roundabout shows, were tiny, thin, and unexciting.

Kudos to you for defending your acquaintance, but just because you know Michael Starobin (or do you mean David Loud, the music director? He didn't do orchestrations according to the credits) doesn't mean that his work was top notch on this one. Starobin's a really talented orchestrator, but when the Roundabout insists you write for a handful of players, you end up with unsatisfying sound.

I saw the show also. And that's not who I'm talking about. Also, if they cut Send in the Clowns, it wouldn't be THAT big of deal because there are SOOO many recordings of her singing the song out there. Can someone please remind me what the Act 1 Finale was?

Does anyone know if it will be available at Barnes & Noble? I can't find it on their website.

I'm surprised that "Ah, But Underneath" is gone, but not realy upset about it. Don't care at all that this version of "Sunday" isn't getting recorded. Looks like all my favorite live moments from the show will be there, and a decent chunk of the Sondheim interviews, which is the most unique/important part of the whole thing.

But Roundabout doesn't make the track list decisions, do they? I would think PS Classics would be the ones to do that.

No -- they didn't record those songs and they will not be on the cast recording. I don't know why they chose not to record them, just that they did not.
