Where are the seats? And if they're whatever they have, do you think tomorrow evening's seats will be crappy after the stellar reviews it got?

Should I just buy discounted tickets online now?

I know the guys that work in that Box Office. They go onsale at 6pm the day of the show (or two hours before for any shows that don't start at 8pm) And there isn't a set number of seats, you just have to be lucky and in the front of the line. Everyone I saw them give out to say was partial view for 26.50. I would just buy discounted tix if you are willing to buy them for a few more bucks. And to avoid the service fees, just go down to the BO with the printout of the discount offer.

Hope that helps...

Thanks!

Also, what are the rear mezzanine seats like?

Not too bad. The Barrymore Theatre isn't that big.

I haven't sat in the rear mezz seats in the barrymore for a play, only musicals. I know the view is fine, of course it's a little high, but not a terrible view. The theater is only approx 1000 seats. However, I have no idea how well you can hear them since they are not amplified by microphones. But typically you can rent listening devices if you need them for free from someone at the theater.

The rear mezzanine is kind of high for such a small theater, but if you're okay with heights, the view is fine, because you aren't very far back.

I'm gonna wait...the ticket selection online is pretty dismal so I assume the box office is the same. I'll wait for the buzz to die down a little bit.

That's one hell of a show to see two days in a row!

I rushed it once and got front row center. I think it's random what seats they give, not always box seats.

It varies, but the boxes are often rush, from what I've been able to tell.

If I get to the theater at 7:00 this evening, do you all think I'll get a ticket?

Absolutely, the show has done under 60% the past two weeks, so I doubt that a Thursday in January is likely to be sold out.

Just felt the need to bump this slightly. I'm going to New York in two weeks for two weeks (13th - 1st). I really want to see this show, especially since it now has William H. Macy in the Piven role (I'm such a nerd, but before he was even cast, I've always wanted to see Macy Mamet it up). Since I've never seen this, I'd like to know what I might be looking at for quality of rush seats. Only one person on here said front row orchestra, so I would just really appreciate some more info please. And are there better days than others to rush such a show? Thank you so much in advance.

I rushed it on a Saturday night a couple weeks after it opened with Piven. I had box seats... You miss some moments of the show in this location. Your coming during a slow period on broadway and the show is already performing at a much lower level than it previously was. If you go to a performance at a more off time (i.e. not a Saturday night or something like that), you'll probably have a chance of getting better seats. Although it's a bit random, there's a possibility of good open seats being available on a Saturday. It's hit or miss... Get to the box office 15 mins-30 mins before rush starts (2 hours before curtain). That's what I did when Piven was in it and there was only a few people ahead of me. Front row at most shows is really not the best place to sit... They tend to put invited guests more towards the middle of the orch, maybe like 10 rows back.

Because STP rush is subject to availability and the seat locations vary a lot, you probably aren't going to get the black-and-white answer you seem to be looking for. But this thread might have some helpful information for you:

I know that theater really, really well, and honestly, aside from the (very partial, and frankly, minor) obstruction in the boxes, there is not a bad seat in that house. I find the back half of the mezzanine to be a bit steep, but the view is absolutely fine up there if you can take the incline. It's not a big theater at all, and you'll be fine anywhere you sit.
